Lots of drugs MUST be sold. In order to achieve this, anything goes: lies, fraud, and kickbacks. Doctors are the principal salespeople of the drug companies. They are rewarded with research grants, gifts, and lavish perks. The principal buyers are the public - from infants to the elderly - who MUST be thoroughly medicated and vaccinated...at any cost! Why do the authorities forbid alternative medicine? Because they are serving the industry, and the industry cannot make money with herbs, vitamins, and homeopathy. They cannot patent natural remedies. That is why they push synthetics. They control medicine, and that is why they are able to tell medical schools what they can and cannot teach. " Guylaine Lanctot, M.D MICROWAVE: Recent research shows that microwave oven cooked food suffers severe molecular damage. When eaten, it causes abnormal changes in human blood and immune systems. Not surprisingly the public has been denied details on these significant health dangers. SOY PRODUCTS: Contrary to popular belief that soy is a health food, evidence reveals that soy consumption has been linked to numerous disorders, including infertility, increased cancer and infantile leukemia, Type1 diabetes, and precocious puberty in children have been fed soy formula. (early maturation, such as breast development and menstruation as early as 6 years of age). Scientists have known for years that the isoflavones in soy products can depress thyroid function and cause goiters in otherwise healthy children and adults. A combined research team of Cornell University Medical College and Long Island Community Hospital medical experts have found that children who develop Type1 diabetes are twice as likely to have been fed soy formulas as those fed all other foods This confirms concerns based on animal studies raised in the 1980's and 1990s by Health Canada researcher Dr Fraser Scott and led to the American Academy of Pediatrics issuing their warning to pediatricians against any use of soy based formulas. SUGAR FREE PRODUCTS: According to researchers and physicians studying the adverse effects of aspartame (Aspartame is the technical name for the brand names, NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure.), the following chronic illnesses can be triggered or worsened by ingesting of aspartame: Brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, parkinson's disease, alzheimer's, mental retardation, lymphoma, birth defects, fibromyalgia, and diabetes. -- Weed killer Makes Male Frogs Into Females-Study By Maggie Fox Health and Science Correspondent 4-16-2 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The most popular weed killer in the United States can give male frogs female sex organs and other attributes, researchers said on Monday, in a study that could shed light on the global decline in amphibian populations. Very low levels of the herbicide atrazine can cause male frogs to grow female sex organs and curtail their croaks -- key to attracting mates in the frog world -- a team at the University of California Berkeley found. The frogs appear normal on the outside, but often have both male and female sex organs, the researchers said, adding that the findings may help explain the amphibian population decline. The decline worries scientists because amphibians such as frogs respond to environmental dangers before other species. " Atrazine is the most commonly used herbicide in the U.S. and probably the world, " the researchers wrote in their report, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. " It can be present at several parts per million in agricultural runoff and can reach 40 parts per billion in precipitation. " Such a common pollutant would reach many animals as well as humans, so the team, led by Tyrone Hayes, tested its effects on the African clawed frog Xenopus laevis. They put tadpoles into water laced with levels of atrazine much lower than allowed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and found that the weed killer had serious effects on 16 percent of them. These genetically male frogs had testicles and ovaries, and many had testicles that did not function properly and contained eggs and sperm. Their levels of testosterone were much lower than normal. The male frogs also had much smaller larynxes than normal, which could affect their ability to croak and attract mates, Hayes' team reported. The researchers determined that atrazine is an endocrine disruptor -- a class of chemicals that disrupts the hormones in the body. Many pesticides fall into this category and it is one of the qualities that can make them dangerous. " We hypothesize that atrazine ... promotes the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, " they wrote. " This widespread compound and other environmental endocrine disruptors may be a factor in global amphibian declines. " Environmentalists responded with alarm. " This research is further proof that this pesticide is a major threat to public health and the environment, " the Natural Resources Defense Council said in a statement. " EPA's tap water standard for atrazine is 3 parts per billion -- 30 times higher than the level at which these dramatic sexual side effects occurred. At higher levels, the frogs developed additional health problems, " it added. " This rigorous scientific study reinforces what we and other scientists have been saying for years -- atrazine is a dangerous pesticide, " the council's Jennifer Sass said. " It's no surprise that it's been banned by many European countries. " She said the study had implications for humans, especially children who have not reached puberty. 2002 Reuters Limited. All rights reserved -- Soy: The Poison Seed Dr. William Wong This piece will be short and very much to the point. As Americas largest cash crop soy is being touted as having a myriad of health benefits. Far from! Soy is poison, period! All paid for opinion to the contrary. What's bad about soy?: Contains Isoflavones (Genistein and Daidzein). In soy the isoflavones are built in insecticides. If they kill bugs are they good for humans? Isoflavones are estrogen like substances which have the same effect as the bodies estrogen. Cancer comes from having too much estrogen. Irritability and mood swings, fat gain from the waist down, fibrocystic breast disease uterine fibromas are all associated with estrogen dominance. Instead of helping prevent the bad effects of environmental or natural estrogen dominance soy isoflavones are now known to increase the bad effect of estradiol and estrone the two major bad guys of the estrogen family. (1,2,3). Kills testicular tissue. In men it permanently reduces testicular function and lowers Lutinizing Hormone production. LH is what signals your testicles to work. This increases the probability of estrogen dominance in men with its hair loss, swollen and cancerous prostates. (4,5). Male children fed soy formulas and soy products may not ever get to like girls. Dorris Rapp MD, the worlds leading pediatric allergist, asserts that environmental and food estrogens are responsible for the increase in male homosexuality and the worldwide reduction in male fertility. (6). Isoflavones decrease thyroid hormone production. This can stunt children's growth and make the rest of us tired and fat. (7,8,9). Female children fed the estrogens in soy formula and products hit puberty very very early sometimes as young as age 6 to 8! (10). Pregnant women eating soy products may effect the sexual differentiation of their children. Studies show malformations of the reproductive tract or offspring born with both male and female sexual organs. (11). Isoflavones decrease GOOD cholesterol (HDL). (12,13). Soy contains Phytin, which takes essential minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium etc. out of the body before they can be absorbed. Also soy contains Trypsin inhibitors block this vital anti cancer enzyme, anti fibrosis enzyme. (14). A 7000 man 30 year epidemiological study done in Hawaii shows soy is connected with a higher rate of Vascular Dementia (Alzheimer's disease). (15,16). Any opinions to contradict the facts noted above have been paid for by the Agribusiness giants Monsanto and Archer Daniels Midland. Once public knowledge of their manipulation of public opinion and of the FDA becomes widely known, expect monster class action lawsuits against these folks. They'll deserve it in spades! -- " The hope of the industry is that over time the market is so flooded [with GE organisms] that there's nothing you can do about it, you just sort of surrender, " Washington, D.C. biotech industry consultant Don Westfall told the Toronto Star last year. -- MORE MIND CONTROL COMING - AS AN ADVISORY PANEL REVEALS HOW MINDLESS DOCTORS CAN BE NEWS ITEM: ADVISORY PANEL URGES ROUTINE SCREENING FOR DEPRESSION By Nicholas Regush May 22, 2002 - And these are actually adults! A group of doctors, who, if we didn’t know better, might be accused of smoking dope while advising the government. Maybe the FBI should investigate. I mean, who are these people? What were they thinking? Do they have an iota of brain sense about how cajoling doctors to screen for depression will likely lead to mindless drug prescriptions for people who are having some common, momentary difficulties in their lives? It’s bad enough that the average family doctor is out of sorts when it comes to intelligently prescribing drugs for common physical ailments (antibiotic over- prescription for ear infections is a classic example), but when it comes to anything to do with mental processes, watch out 100-fold, because the over-prescription of anti-depressants is already epidemic. And this ongoing debacle should already have gotten the attention of every chief prosecutor in every state of the USA. Rather than advise doctors to screen for depression, this advisory panel should have advised the Department of Justice to set up a Special Task Force to investigate how the medical profession and the drug industry are in bed with one another and how this union, involving the influence peddlers of psychiatry, is set to invade the human mind for even more profit. Talk about terrorism. The kind of advisory notice sent out today to routinely screen patients is a forewarning of how dictatorships form. The very idea of a doctor asking a patient two dumb questions that could be answered " yes " by just about anyone on the planet is so outrageous that I have wondered today whether this was a missed-opportunity April Fool’s joke. Here are the two great questions that would lead to more screening if the person answered " yes. " 1. Over the past two weeks, have you felt down, depressed or hopeless? 2. Over the past two weeks, have you felt little interest or pleasure in doing things? Only a cultural/social idiot, totally oblivious to the themes of our times, not to mention the overhanging, ever-present threat of terrorism and a world going to hell, would ask these types of questions as some sort of a screener for depression. This is not screening. This is the full frontal attack of a medical world that has had its head in the sand for decades while the international drug peddlers have driven a stake through its heart and made people into pill-taking commodities. Want to read this advisory report? http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/3rduspstf/depression -- MAY 27, 2002 THOSE LITTLE PHARMA-GIFTS MEAN A LOT! This is getting to be a bit of a habit - a shared SCREAM. But we can’t help it if the medical profession is experiencing SHARED PSYCHOPATHOLOGY. Walk into a doctor’s office and look around. See the pens with pharmaceutical company names. See the notepad which s/he scratches things on. Catch the name of the company? Or is some of the pad covered up by a freebie drug packet s/he may soon unload on you? Okay, so there are no visible TV sets or computers marked with a drug company logo. And you certainly won’t see the free tickets to the latest ballgame or the invitation to give an " educational " talk at an " educational " drug conference in Tahiti. No, those are definitely tucked away somewhere. Then why are pens, notepads, other office supplies (including sticky pads) various trinkets (maybe a bronzed miniature sheep’s head with a drug company logo) hanging around on the desk or in view somewhere in the office? Well, that’s because Dr. Moron doesn’t understand that those " little things mean a lot. " The fact is, some of us did take Sociology 101 or Social Psych 101 and we do remember that a wealth of experiments indicate that it doesn’t take much to influence someone’s behavior. Should you have any doubt about this, think again, and think about the small gifts that you receive that can mean a lot, particularly if there is a steady supply. And think of how you tend to want to reciprocate even if the tiny gift was a cheap replica of a Trojan Horse. -- " I cannot give you a formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure -- which is: Try to please everybody. (IMS Health) $ Sixty million " details " were made by 83,000 drug reps in the year 2000. Astra-Zeneca added 1,300 reps solely to promote Nexium. (Scott-Levin Consulting) $ $7.2 billion dollars worth of free samples were distributed in the year 2000. (IMS Health) $ The " Research-based " pharmaceutical industry spends more on promotion and administration than it does on research and development. (Families USA) $ Drug costs increased 18.8% to $131.9 billion dollars in 2000. Over a third of this increase was due to a shift to the use of more expensive drugs. (National Institute for Health Care Management) $ Two and one-half billion dollars were spent on advertising to consumers in 2000, a 35% increase from 1999; $468 million dollars were spent on journal ads. (NIHCM) $ Increases in the sales of the 50 drugs most heavily advertised to consumers were responsible for almost half (47.8%) of the $20.8 billion increase in spending in 2000.(NIHCM) $ In 2000, Merck spent $161 million on advertising for Vioxx. That is more than Pepsico spent advertising Pepsi. ($125 million), and more than Anheuser-Busch spent advertising Budweiser.($146 million) (NIHCM) $ The increase in Vioxx sales in 2000 accounted for 5.7% of the 1 year increase in drug spending. (NIHCM) $ Since 1995, R & D staff of U.S. brand name drug companies have decreased by 2%, while marketing staff have increased by 59%. Currently, 22% of staff are employed in research and development, while 39% are in marketing. (PhRMA Industry Profile 2000) $ In a study by Avorn, et al, forty-six per-cent of physicians reported that drug reps are moderately to very important in influencing their prescribing habits (Amer Journal of Med, 1982). $ A study by Chew, et al (JGIM, 2000), found that in the treatment of hypertension, over 90% of physicians would dispense a sample that differed from their preferred drug choice. $ A study by Westfall, et al (JAMA, 1997), found that 96% of physicians and staff had taken samples for personal or family use in the preceding year. $ The AMA generates $20 million in annual income by selling detailed personal and professional information on all doctors practicing in the United States to the pharmaceutical industry (NY Times, November 16, 2000) -- Naturopathy Made Illegal in Florida -- Threat for Other States Bill HB 591, which was accepted in Florida in 2000, makes any practice of naturopathic medicine illegal. While the area was unregulated for many years, this bill requires that people practicing a health care profession without a license get a minimum fine of $1000 and one year in prison. So what, in Florida, is defined as practicing a health care profession? The law defines it as " …the use and practice of psychological, mechanical, and material health sciences to aid in purifying, cleansing, and normalizing human tissues for the preservation or restoration of health, according to the fundamental principles of anatomy, physiology, and applied psychology, as may be required. Naturopathic practice employs, among other agencies, phytotherapy, dietetics, psychotherapy, suggestotherapy, hydrotherapy, zone therapy, biochemistry, external applications, electrotherapy, mechanotherapy, mechanical and electrical appliances, hygiene, first aid, sanitation and heliotherapy… " As you can see, pretty much anything could be considered " practicing a health care profession " under this law -- even giving first aid! It opens the door for arbitrary prosecution of anyone in the field. Meanwhile, there are only 6 licensed naturopaths left that were licensed under an old law before 1959.... For more information and to find out what you can do go here: http://www.naturalhealth.org/index.shtml -- Overweight, Inactivity and Higher Cancer Risk Research has shown that overweight, inactive individuals have higher risk for many cancers, but a clear biological explanation for exactly why this is so has been more elusive. Now, however, one likely reason is beginning to emerge from the research. It has been shown that being overweight and inactive can cause the body to secrete higher and higher amounts of insulin and other growth factors. Cells exposed to high levels of these substances over an extended period of time may begin to reproduce so quickly that cancer becomes more likely. But researchers at the American Institute for Cancer Research stress that this potentially dangerous condition is reversible. --Regular physical activity can help reset the body's hormonal systems and regulate the secretion of insulin. --Losing weight and keeping it off also helps restore insulin levels to normal. As research continues, scientists will likely identify additional biological reasons that excess weight and inactivity increase risk. It is already clear, however, that diet, physical activity and weight management play key roles in cancer prevention. -- The secret of maximum health? The secret? - trust the body, let the body heal without interfering. Plus an optimal environment: the best food, sleep and exercise. Does that sound too simple?. -- RESTAURANT MEALS BUSTING BUTTONS Meals often five times larger than healthy servings By Karen Collins, R.D. (MSNBC Contributor) June 7 – Studies show that as people eat out more often, their calorie consumption goes up. This is probably due not just to what we order, but also how much. New research shows that restaurant portion sizes have grown markedly, with amounts two to five or more times larger than the “standard” serving size. According to government studies, adult calorie consumption increased about 200 calories a day from the late 1970x to the mid-1990s. Although this increase may be due to many changes in our eating patterns, a study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association shows that more frequent eating out or ordering take-out is linked with higher daily calorie and fat consumption. Portion sizes in fast food, take-out and family-type restaurants were studied by researchers at New York University and reported in a recent American Journal of Public Health. Many of the restaurant portions were substantially larger than the standard serving sizes used in government nutrition recommendations like the Food Guide Pyramid. WANNA COOKIE---OR SEVEN? The average bagel was double the standard serving, steak was more than double, a muffin was three times larger, pasta was equal to almost five standard servings, and cookies were an astonishing seven times the standard serving size. Portions larger than a standard serving are not always a problem. For example, one way to reach the health goal of five to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables is to include in your meal a portion equal to two (or even three) servings. Unfortunately, portion sizes of fruits and vegetables in restaurants were not noted in the NYU report. But experience tells us these foods are often served in restaurant meals as garnish—or not even included. Grain products like bread, rice and pasta would not be at all inappropriate in a one-cup portion (equal to two standard servings). But when a portion of pasta is almost five standard servings, or when meat is twice the recommended serving size and eating one cookie is really like eating seven, the problem with frequent restaurant eating becomes obvious. When calorie consumption increases, the nutritional proportion of healthy foods is probably toppled. It wasn’t always this way. Researchers in the NYU study also looked at how portions at these restaurants have changed over the years. Today’s French fry, burger and soda portions are about two to five times the portions originally served. The number of large-sized portions has increased more than ten-fold in the last 30 years. SAY “NO” TO SUPER-SIZES This trend ins a U.S. phenomenon. A “large” portion in Europe is smaller than a “large” in America. In this country, the food industry promotes larger portions as bargains that give you more for your money. But while larger servings may cost less per ounce, eating more than you really need is not a good deal. When a range of portions is offered, the “small” size of virtually everything is usually the best choice—except for vegetables. Remember that even a “medium” was once a “large” not too long ago. Observe Portion sizes, using comparisons like a deck of cards as a standard meat portion, and an average adult’s fist as a maximum grain portion. The key is to eat portions based on true hunger cues rather than eating until the plate is empty. Unfortunately, this is hardest to do when eating “on the run,” the very time that much of our fast food and take-out eating is done. -- ??? ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE ???
