Hi all,

I have a friend in her late 60's and she has suffered from painful fibromas in the arch of her left foot for a number of years. She went to a recommended doctor and he was very rude to her and said he couldn't do anything to help her. Apparently he had treated one patient with the same condition by cutting out the fibromas only to find them growing back larger than ever. That woman ended up having half her foot amputated by this Doctor.

Now my friend doesn't know what to do as her own GP had sent her to this unhelpful specialist. The fibromas are entwined just above the arch of her foot and she was told if they were removed her foot would collapse and turn somehow. She is in constant pain with them. Are there any other sorts of help, does anyone know? We are in Australia.

I wish I could help, but I had an experience with a podiatrist that I would like to relate. I had lumps in the arch my left foot which when touched had some pain. My GP sent me to a "specialist". His diagnosis was surgery to remove these lumps. I asked him what would happen if I did not do anything. His reply was that they would become worse. Well, I did nothing and they disappeared in a few weeks. That was about three or four years ago, and I have not had a reoccurrence. Just goes to show.....
