Guest guest
I have the kenmore distiller, and it is my understanding that using the filter is optional. Really the only thing the carbon filter does after the water has been distilled is get rid of any odors. I use mine without the filter and my water is great. Just my 2 cents worth. Guest guest
Hmmm....how much does a new filter cost? I've been using a Brita Water Pitcher as my only water filtering. Our water smells. I noticed it as soon as we moved in back in Oct. The Brita Water Pitcher takes the odor out of the water, I just wonder what it DOESN'T take out. Guest guest
Here's what looks like a pretty informative web page on the different methods of cleaning up water: http://www.epa.gov/seahome/groundwater/src/treata.htm. It appears that distillation and carbon filtering can accomplish some different things. :)Kelli
