Guest guest
> Are there any herbal remedies for alcoholism or alcohol abuse? > Salvia Divinorum - Diviners Sage -- is confirmed to be anti-addictive properties to six drug categories so far: alcohol; opioids; amphetamines; cocaine; cannabinols; nicotine. http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/herbs.html Salvia Divinorum's anti-addictive effect stems from it being a kappa opioid receptor agonist as opposed to being a mu-opioid receptor agonist like opium is. Analgesic and also an antidepressive, not by zoning one out or dicking around with serotonin values but by another mechanism, it gives a feeling of calm and belonging. In fact, although at decent doses Salvia Divinorum will briefly dump you in an alternate and completely believable reality, it does this with no side effects, no detectable euphoria or much in the way of lingering aftereffects, and it is blatantly non-toxic and non- addictive. This plus the fact that it produces an very short introspective, spiritual (some say religious) experience makes it not at all a recreational substance, and I trust it to be a positive all around experience. I know at least three people who have, at last contact, reduced their antidpressive drugs by 2/3 with only occasional use of this herb. Called Herb of Mary the Sheperdess (Yerba Maria de la Pastora) by Mexican Mazatec natives and once restricted to ceremonial use in the mountains of Oaxaca, Salvia Divinorum grows well in any non-freezing temperate rain forest. It's legal; Americans can buy rooted cuttings in the USA, and similarly Canadians can in Canada; in fact Canadians can contact me privately for plants.
