The International Chiropractors Association's Pediatrics Council Publishes Groundbreaking Document Outlining Parameters of Chiropractic Care for Pediatric Care.

(PRWEB) - Arlington, VA (PRWEB) September 8, 2005 -- The Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics of the International Chiropractors Association, released today a document entitled, "The Child Patient: A Matrix for Chiropractic Care" as a supplement to its peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical chiropractic Pediatrics (JCCP) Vol. 6, No., 2005. This groundbreaking document, authored by Dr. Joan Fallon, for the first time outlines the parameters for necessity of chiropractic care for children of all ages.

"The foundation of chiropractic care is the presence of subluxation," states Fallon. "For children, subluxation manifests itself differently than in adults, and also may occur as a result of multiple non- pain producing activities especially in the very young child. The Matrix closely examines the presence of subluxation in the child with respect to their anatomy, physiology and development."

"We owe a deep debt of gratitude to Dr. Joan Fallon for developing this matrix," said Dr. Lora Tanis, chair of the ICA Pediatrics Council. "This is an invaluable contribution to the profession and to the public at large because for the first time we have a published document that explains why infants and toddlers need chiropractic care and how the need and/or frequency of care relates to birth trauma, immune system maturity and developmental milestones along with any abnormal, congenital, traumatic or acquired injuries the child may have."

The ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics is the leader in the chiropractic profession with respect to care for children. In addition to publishing the only peer-reviewed journal in chiropractic pediatrics, the Council also developed the 3-year postgraduate program in chiropractic pediatrics sponsored by accredited chiropractic colleges and taught at various cities throughout the United States as well as in New Zealand/Australia.

The Pediatrics Council has a reputation for high academic standards and is continually raising the bar on chiropractic pediatric education with its annual conference and seminars in the United States and abroad. The Council foresees that this matrix will be utilized by all third party payers as well as being adopted by state Boards.

Dr. Joan Fallon is currently a member of ICA's Board of Directors and past chair and current Executive Committee member of the Pediatrics Council.
