I found this interesting connection from the

Hyperacusis Board, thought it would be good to send to

you.

The Hyperacusis Network at located at:

www.hyperacusis.net, for anyone you'd know who might

be interested in checking it out, is really

informative!!!

The TMJ and Leg Connection:

Hi - I'm brand new to the network, in fact I just

registered so that I could reply to you. I've been

dealing with TMJ for a very long time - I've had a

headache from it every day for the past 28 years.

About 10 years ago, I started going to a chiropractor

and she was able to help although it I still haven't

had a day when I didn't have a TMJ headache (it didn't

help that I moved away for 6 years and couldn't find a

good chiropractor). After I had been seeing her for

several months, she went to a seminar and learned that

people who have had TMJ problems for a long period of

time build up pressure points in the calves of their

legs. She decided to test that on me because she knew

that if it would show up in anyone, it would show up

in me (after 18 years of forcing my jaw open every

morning). When she massaged the back of my legs - it

felt like she had struck a match to them. But, after

she was finished, the muscles in my jaw had loosened

up quite a bit. So now when it's bad - I'll massage

my calves or find someone to do it for me because it

works better if your legs are straight instead of bent

around so that you can reach it yourself. It does

help.

I'm lucky - my chiropractor believes in doing muscle

work in addition to the adjustments (to keep the

muscles from shoving the bones back out of place

before you even get out the door). So she'll usually

massage my neck and sometimes different points on my

head (it doesn't take much to find the trouble spots).

She also uses an activator - which doesn't bother me

as far as sound goes - but it could cause problems for

you. I would suggest having the chiropractor test it

away from your ear first because if your Hyperacusis

is bad - it will hurt.

Other things that have worked for me - or at least

helped a little - Icy Hot (it's stronger than Ben Gay)

rubbed on the back of my neck or a handheld massager

that I could place directly on the muscle spasms or my calves.

I'm not the least bit surprised to hear that - I have learned TBM

(Total Body Modification), and there are LOTS of things in the body

where you don't necessarily have what you've got - such as carpal

tunnel syndrome - the problem there is not in the wrists, but in the

hamstrings - I have corrected the hamstrings on numerous people and in

doing so cleared carpal tunnel...hip adductors cause tennis elbow,

gallbladder is responsible for joints, so if you have knee problems,

probably ought to check gallbladder - you may be dehydrated (which is

the most common cause of gallbladder problems) or not getting in

enough essential fatty acids.
