There's tonnes of info. here, this is just some of the

few things: Janice

Fruit flies are a real pain when they appear for the

summer and fall. We used to have problems with them

until I began spraying the house with a dilution of

Lemongrass Essential Oil. I take a clean spray bottle

that has not been used for other chemically laden

products and place 10 drops per 2 ounces of hot water

in it. Shake it well and spray those little pests. Not

only does it work on fruit flies, but it will also rid

your home of spiders, ants, house flies and most

unwanted creepy crawlers. Not only does it work, but

it also smells great! Leaves a pleasant scent in the

home. I use it outside around the side walk, the

doors, windows, and anywhere I see creepy crawlers

gathering.

Not long ago, as the winter gave way to spring, we had

an infestation of little tiny ants in the bathroom. We

are on the ground level of an apartment complex, so we

get whatever crawls upon the earth. I sprayed heavily

and we have not had any more problems. Only a week

prior, the office sent out word that they were

spraying for spiders and ants. They did, but we still

had ants and spiders in our home. However, we are now

virtually bugless! I was almost disappointed I only

had to use the solution a couple of times to rid us of

them! It works very well. Just make sure you get the

real stuff.

Simmer a sliced apple and a couple of cinnamon sticks

in some water on your stove. The whole house will

smell like apple pie.

To quickly get rid of odors (especially fish), simply

heat some white vinegar on the stove (DON'T boil!),

and after about 30 minutes, remove it. The slight

vinegar smell dissipates quickly and takes any odors

with it.

Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with water in a spray bottle.

Shake well and spray. The baking soda absorbs the

odor. You can also add a little scent if you want. (I

use vanilla extract. It smells great and drives men

wild for some reason)

Fill a parmesan cheese shaker with baking soda. (I

like to spray it with a little of my favorite

cologne.) Sprinkle over carpets and let it sit as long

as possible (Overnight is best). Vacuum. I also add

table salt to the baking soda, but it is not

necessary. The salt absorbs moisture and acts as an

abrasive. It really makes the carpet look better than

vacuuming without it.

Save any citrus peels and spices that are too old to

use. Boil them in a pot with a little hot water. They

make the house smell lovely for next to nothing. I

ground up cinnamon sticks for cinnamon and saved the

bits that were too big for my spice bottle for a

simmer pot.

Scented rocks make a great air freshener. Mix 1/2 cup

salt and 1/2 cup flour in a bowl. Add 1/4 teaspoon of

a favorite essential oil and 2/3 cup boiling water and

a few drops of a food coloring to create a desired

shade. Blend all ingredients, form into balls, and

allow to dry.

A Unique Healthy Bean Snack

Buy a can of garbanzo beans and rinse them off and lay

them out until they no longer drip. Put them in a

gallon resealable bag along with garlic powder,

parsley or any combination of favorite spices. Shake

them up until fully coated. Put a brown bag on a

cooking sheet and put your beans into an oven set for

150 until dry. Put into a tight container and they're

healthier and better tasting than cornnuts.

Always store cottage cheese and sour cream upside down

in the refrigerator to create

a vacuum, and they will last for weeks. This is also

works for spaghetti sauce in jars.

Go to www.homecanning.com and check out what's there.

Make a casserole using a can of Campbell's Cream of

Mushroom soup, a can of tuna, and egg noodles.

or

Empty a can of Campbell's Cream of Broccoli soup and a

can of milk into a skillet. Stir in a can of tuna and

six to eight ounces of wide egg noodles. Be careful to

not break the noodles. Cover and let simmer for about

15 minutes or until the noodles are tender. Enjoy!
