I have several but the best book I have is " Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis " by Barbara Kirschbaum, publisher Eastland Press. Many times I use this book to show patients what I'm seeing on the tongue. It sure helps the patient get interested in how the tongue is progressing in the treatments. Guest guest
What can it portend? My thoughts: Edges are ruled by Wood, much as Shaoyang controlling the lateral qi. The center portion of the body, and tongue, seems to have 'caved in'; lost it's substance by injury or horrific emotional episode. Examples of the first is when an explosion has ripped out the abdomen and some organs, as with a mine exploding, or shrapnel from an incendiary device. Of the second, you figure it out.
