Guest guest
Amazing that they already know this is going to happen. May 19, 2005 - 7:09AM http://www.theage.com.au/news/World/Health-chiefs-fear-flu-may-kill-millions/2005/05/19/1116361643612.html?oneclick=true Health chiefs warn they may be unable to detect and tackle a more deadly flu strain before it causes millions of deaths worldwide. The warning's come at a meeting to discuss preparations for a looming pandemic, organised on the sidelines of a World Health Organisation assembly. The WHO's top influenza official, Klaus Stohr, says health chiefs are working on pandemic preparedness on borrowed time. He's reiterated that conservative estimates indicate up to 7.4 million people might die in an outbreak. Stohr says countries are having trouble stockpiling huge amounts of costly antiviral drugs and there are still huge gaps in production capacity for eventual vaccines. Fears of another global flu pandemic on the scale of those in 1968 and 1957 have resurfaced with the recent spread of the H5N1 strain of bird flu virus from infected poultry into humans in Asia. The H5N1 strain has killed 52 people in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia since late 2003, prompting fears that it could mutate into a deadlier virus that would be contagious among humans. © 2005 AAPBrought to you by
Guest guest
They figure if they scare the hell out of people they will get the flu shots. Have not had a flu shot in over 30 years and very rarely get any flu bugs. Another point is this. They make up a shot for the flu they 'think' will hit. So therefore its a 'hit and miss' deal. Thanks but no thanks. THe one time I got the shot I was sicker than a dog for 2 weeks. lynn --- Kathy <vanokat wrote: > Amazing that they already know this is going to > happen. > Health chiefs fear flu may kill millions Lynn
Guest guest
I agree. I have never had a flu shot and have only had " something " not quite sure what it was last winter. My mother always got hers and ALWAYS got the flu. A friend got hers a few years ago and within 6 months was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
