Cheryl,

Thanks so much. Have been cutting back my sugar

and use Dole products. Just checked a can of crushed

pineapple and there is no mention of aspartame. It

says 100% natural juice - no sugar added. Has 13g of

sugar. Checked contents - no mention of it. Keep me

posted as I personally DO NOT think aspartame is good

for us. To me it has an awful aftertaste and I have

never been able to drink anything diatetic.

As expensive and time consuming it sounds, we might

just have to go to juicing our own fruits for our

juice and buying fresh fruits only....which is why I

say expensive....buying fresh fruits in season won't

be much of a problem, but out of season fruits can

pack a punch to the ol' wallet.....

Then there's the purchase of a good quality juicer to

consider, but at least we wouldn't have to worry about

aspertame additions to our juices/canned

fruits----unless they begin injecting our fruits with

aspertame while on the tree/bush/vine!

I thought I'd add in here the same thing is taking place with the new

7-Up. I don't recall the name for it - but it's the new 7-Up with the

fruit flavor in it. No where on the bottle does it say " diet " or sugar

free. However, I took a big gulp of it and almost choked. It's

definitely diet and must contain aspertame.

Anna, and all--

....used to know a " Coke " guy and while stocking the

soft drink section at the store a while back, I asked

him about Aspertame being in soft drinks even though

it might not be labeled.....he said I was correct and

that's why he no longer drinks " the stuff, " as he put

it, because most if not all beverage manufacturers now

use Aspertame in their drinks, even though they're not

the " sugar-free " kind....

....said it was cheaper to use a mix of Aspertame-like

sweeteners and sugar than to use straight sugar based

sweeteners...

....he then said, (quoting him here) " we ALL know how

profits are more important to the Big Guys than the

health of those who've made them as rich as they are "

....I asked him if they knew how dangerous Aspertame

and its derivitives were, and he looked at me like I'd

just asked the most stupid quesiton he'd ever

heard.....of COURSE they know what Aspertame is/can do

to the body he said.....but that doesn't

matter.......PROFIT MARGIN is the god of this side of

Heaven he told me....

....needless to say, as sad as I was to go without my

12-pack of caffeine-free Dr. Pepper, I passed it up

and told myself water was more healthy for me....it's

been a struggle, to be honest, 'cause I sure miss my

nose burning, belch inducing Dr. Peppers!

....I mourn the " good ol' days, " when we could guzzle

an ice cold can of soft drink and feel all is well

with the world.....those days have long passed.....

....before leaving the aisle, I asked him if he was

afraid of losing his job from telling people this

Truth about what " the Big Guys " are now slipping into

our drinks, and he said that I was the only one so far

(at that time) that ever asked him about

Aspertame.....

....said that he just kept his mouth shut, but if

anyone wanted to know, then he'd say something....

....one other note here, and I'll close....he told me

that the ingredient list wouldn't have " Aspertame "

listed (that'd be too obvious), but would be under the

label of a sweetener....that was a couple of years

ago, so I'm not surprised 7-Up has Aspertame in it

also....I imagine every soft drink company now uses

the " stuff "

....can't imagine any big corp. like that not jumping

on the bandwagon of profits, y'know?

Threecrowfeathers,

I've not noticed it in regular 7-UP. I don't drink softdrinks often -

I'm sensitive to sodium, and all softdrinks have sodium in them...but

when I do, I make it a 7-UP. My allergist, 25 years ago (I now have rid

myself of nearly all allergies) told me to avoid preservatives,

additives, artificial colorings - and that 7-UP was the only soft drink

without these things. That was then. However, I can taste artificial

sweeteners instantly.

I'm hoping they don't put it in 7-UP but there is no doubt that it is

in the new 7-UP Plus.

http://www.7up.com/PlusHold.aspx

Yet, as you can see - no mention of it being " diet " , sugarless, or

otherwise.

Ooops! It DOES say on the ad - SPLENDA.

I stand corrected! However, I just remember when I bought them (they

were 2 for $1.00 when it was first introduced) - it said nothing on the

front label about it.
