Guest guest
Ed, if you put the plant in a pot with a hole in it, and put it in a saucer, the water won't run out, but it will drain into the saucer. Your aloe plant is getting root rot, and the wetter it stays, the more the roots rot. If it has its feet, so to speak, in the rocks where the water pools, it is too much. Aloe is a desert plant and needs very little water or attention to thrive. Re-pot it in a sandy soil mixture - primarily sand - with a little bit of humus, in a pot that drains, and put it in the sun. Then forget about it. Lil Re: question for ya'll I can't have a hole letting the water run out, it would run out all over everything. The plant has done well by watering every couple of weeks. Soaking it. It sometimes does lose " turgidity " but never has actually been floppy. It looks weak in its coloring though. Bottom of pot has rocks in it. It is a fairly large pot. When I've watered it more often it does worse. It is a plant with many shoots but nothing every gets large. Ed
