Guest guest
I would also add that " we " tend to fool ourselves even greater by believing that CEU's are keeping us up to date. I hold the institution morally and legally responsibly for this failure. Yet the reality is it is (or will be) the graduates of this institution that suffer. The leaders of our industry - many of whom are on this list bear the burden of this responsibility. Give'em hell, get that fire going Demand the highest standards. The schools won't do it - so demand the Acupuncture Board to make a real test. A test of ability and knowledge. Do away with the CEU's and demand re-certification (test) every 4 years. Everyone admires a TRUE professional. the pursuit of excellence - the pursuit - makes mediocrity even better that they themselves believed possible. ed kasper lac santa cruz, ca. <<snipped>>>... We would be better off admitting the obvious and offering a plan for rectification. If we stubbornly insist we are trained to the full extent of our scope when it is clear we are not, that can only have negative repercussions. -- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
what standards ... There is a lot of talk ... but no one seems willing to walk the talk, or to be held accountable. What is horrible is that our profession accepts the idea that the licensing procedure and the hoops that are jumped through produce an acceptable level of medical competency. The AMA will do nothing against an incompetent medical doctor. believing once qualified always qualified. And in the worse case scenarios of a incompetent M.D. lives are destroyed. They tout Hippocrates - the father of modern medicine, put their Hippocratic oath out there - and that is all. A lot of talk ... What I am asking for is A standard. Set the standard and I'll jump through it. The public sees those standards and judge by it. reality check ... what separates you (me) from the store clerk that hands out a bottle of herb capsules? Or from the chiro, the massage therapist, the M.D., the physical therapists ? Yes, I do have a license. I do continuing education, I pay my dues. I've jumped through all those hoops. _____But the PUBLIC - Does Not See Any Difference_____ Our profession is up that river in Egypt if we do not see that! Chinese Herbal Formulas - what this list and our profession is about - are handed out more by store clerks than by any others. Why is our profession _the least_ consulted !!! The Public Perception of who we are -- that is my issue. There is so much talent especially on this list yet look at the outcome ... Walk the Talk, Ed Kasper LAc.
