Guest guest
BTW, After looking at Camden Grey's website just now they do in some (a few) cases state the latin name and if the oil is organic or not- so you can possibly tell what you are buying in some cases. It is inconsistent and there is still much vital info missing. For Frankincense just for example..it gives no Latin- so I have no idea is it Frankincense frareana, Frankincense, carterri, Frankincense, sacra? Is it from Oman? India? Or Somalia? Is it tested? How is it distilled- by what method? This makes a big difference. Really frightening is Birch...it just says Birch. No indication what type. Is it Betula alba? Betula lenta? Is it Betula nigra? This is potentially very dangerous not to know. Anyway...I'm done...the best thing is to learn. Start with the basics. The books I suggested are a good start. Check to see if they are on sale on the web. Usually are :-) Elizabeth On Monday, September 15, 2003, at 01:35 PM, Elizabeth wrote: > Fragrance oils are synthetic. > > Infused oils are herbs that are infused in oil- like arnica and > calendula- not essential oils. > The quality of essential oils Camden Grey sells is that used in > soapmaking not for therapeutic use. > > Hint: don't buy essential oils from a company that sells Fragrance > oils...unless you are making soap...which I would not use. > > Anyway, I'll let others share their experience and expertise I think I > have covered most of the basics. > > Elizabeth > > > On Monday, September 15, 2003, at 01:15 PM, Anjeweleyes wrote: > >> Ok, >> I am lost as a run over dog... >> I have been looking on camden grey...that's www.camdengrey.com >> There is essential oils, flavor oils, fragrance oils and infused >> oils... >> Somebody slap me!....with the differences in these things, and what >> are the uses of each. >> Or, if ya ain't got time to fool with me, how about an excellent all >> around book you could recommend (or website) for me to learn these >> things meself... >> Thanks so much... >> Angel >> >> All incoming and outgoing scanned with NAV (and now AVG) for both our >> protection.
