Lorazepam and Propranolol

Lorazepam I assume you are taking for anxiety. But, what are you taking the other for? I done a search on each and what I found is at the bottom of this post.

My mom and my husband, as well as my oldest daughter have been diagnosed with anxiety disorder. Let me tell you, all three people are different with theirs. My mom will take anything the doctors prescribe for two or three days, and if she has any kinds of unusual feelings or effects, she stops taking it. My daughter is the same way. My husband took Zoloft once for about two months and couldn't get any relief, so he quit. He tries to control his, where as my mom and daughter go running back to the doctor, and they are running out of stuff to give them. My mom and daughter thinks nothing will work unless it comes from a bottle at the local drug store....even though nothing had worked thus far.

My husband settles for controlling his in his own mind. Now, before you go off your rocker and swear at me, let me tell you a little about this man. He has the will power of a saint. He CAN lose his temper and keep his sanity to where he doesn't do anything about it, that's when the anxiety comes in. He has lost his temper and went to jail or sent someone off crying hysterically or to the hospital, and he doesn't want that to happen anymore. His is mostly stress induced though. But, he really dispises the anxiety attacks also as they make him feel like he's having a heart attack...literally.

I used to have anxiety attacks until I began to speak my mind. It took a while to learn how to do this calmly and sometimes I still lose control, but I don't have the attacks anymore. Mine gets out of control enough that I'll make you cry or slap me, but I've never went to jail...

My daughter either distroys her room or has an attack. I've watched her sit right at the table and sweat and tremble and grab her chest and literally shake tears out of her eyes.

My mother though, she has a different thing. Hers is mostly when she can't control something happening to her or when she can't control us (her kids). She either has one or distroys the kitchen. You should see her, she'll get a chair and stand at the dish cabinet throwing everything to the floor. And, God help your soul if you happen to be standing there and something does NOT break. She totally loses control then. She's owned one set of Corell dishes and when they didn't break like she wanted, she never bought them again.

Thankfully, she hasn't had one of these fits since we were in our twenties. I"m 35 and my brother is 34.

But, when she can't control the situation now, she gets sick for days and she is a total bitch the whole time (pardon the expression, but that's the best I can do right now). Something happens to her stomach and she can't keep anything but potatoe soup down. We call it her nervous stomach, but anyway...

I just wanted to describe what I think anxiety is before I go any further...

I had these things when I was a teenager. And, I think it's the inability to control your temper. It's not from being spoiled and always getting your way, although I guess it could start from this. But, as time goes by, something happens and it's really a bad thing.

AND THE ONLY PERSON OR THING THAT CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT IS THE PERSON EXPERIENCING IT. I don't doubt there are things out there that can help pacify this disorder until you can learn about it and learn to control it, but that's the end result for my way of thinking.

I just had to take a "dont' give a sh--" attitude. I was sick and tired of all the meds I was being given. And, I was even more tired of being labeled anti-social, and border line manic depressive, and the anger management classes that I went to were a joke.

So, this is what I did.

Over the years, I'd say what I thought no matter what anyone thought. People usually thought one of two things about me. Either I was a loud mouth bitch or they thought I was totally kewl for having the nerve to say what was on my mind. But, no matter what they thought, I usually didn't see them very much afterwards. Then, I learned to keep my opinions to myself unless asked, just like for this posting! But, I still had a hard time even when I was really trying, because I had no tact for expressing myself. I still have a hard time with this sometimes.

Now, since joining this list, I have learned from some saintly souls how to express myself with tact and control my temper. My family just blurts it out with no regard to anyones feelings, and if you grew up with that, you are used to it. But, my husband's family never says anything about anything except behind your back and some have learned it's best to keep your mouth shut even then. So, you can imagine the trouble I first had coming into this family. But, that's another story.

I just don't bother unless asked, and then, it's only to who ever it's about.

I have had to learn to not care about anything or anybody except my immediate family. And, that is truly the only time I really lost my temper or had attacks, is when I cared about them. I had to realize that every one has their own way of doing things, and even then....MOST THINGS OUTSIDE OF MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY AREN'T MY BUSINESS ANYWAY.

I still lose my temper when it directly involves me or my kids. If you don't care about me or mine, I don't care to hurt your feelings or piss you off.

I'm not saying it's easy and it takes a long time to be able to deal with it. And, I really believe that if you don't control it, anxiety can cause strokes or heart attacks, in very extreme, rare cases.

So, it is something to work on, learn any and everything you can about and try to control.

Do a search on the web to see what kinds of herbal things you can find to band aid this until you can figure out the root to this stuff. I can tell you that any mind altering drug from a drug store or doctor will have poison in it. And, the end result may be worse than what you're taking it for...

My youngest daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. She truly has this stuff. She was on Adderall for three years. It wasn't getting any better, every time I tried to wean her, she was just the same. Never got any better. When they finally relented that she may have to take it until teen years or longer....maybe the rest of her life, I started looking around and doing research of my own. I found that I can control it with foods and keeping certain things from her even better than with the meds. Although, the diet doesn't keep her raw bony or looking like she's on her death bed. And, she doesn't have highs and lows, she's on an even keel all the time now, unless she sneaks and eats something she knows is a no-no.

So, you might want to check out what you're eating and the things that hormones, anti-biotics, and pesticides or herbicides can do for the human body.

Any normal comfort food like gravy, biscuits, cake, ice cream, etc. will make my oldest daughter so depressed and irritable we just about have to knock her out. She can eat these things in moderation, but very moderate amounts and not on an every day basis. My ADHD honey can eat dairy or alot of carbs and you'd think she has no up bringing what so ever, it's full blown ADHD then, and some dyes and additives will do this also, we just try to stay away from processed, commercially prepared foods because they aren't good for the body anyway.

So sorry for being so windy, but this is not a yes or no subject to me.

Whether you think I'm crazy or an idiot (or not) please do a search in this group and on line or at the library and learn for yourself all the things that the things they do to foods and the things they put into foods these days are linked to and known for causing. You'll be surprised.

Thanks for reading.

Re: [herbal remedies] Re: to your health

Rik,

If someone isn't familiar with the drugs you are taking they won't respond... I posted i believe yesterday some things for depression and anxiety - I believe under St. John's Wort was the header.... I have been extremely busy at work the last few days... but I intend to research your drugs and respond... I'm sure Don will when he reads it and Doc I know is on a project at the present time.
