Guest guest
Hi Shayla, As far as oils for birth...I obviously have a lot to say about this since I make very complex birth kits- but since this is my business I will simply make some more general suggestions about what I like to help you make your own. Much can be learned with some good books, safety knowledge, and lot's of practice blending. I am familiar with the recommended oils you mention, but they are not really what I would choose for most people- and this is quite individual. I am often questioned about this group of oils since many who are into natural birth are familiar with them via the internet. Spikenard is truly an acquired taste-- perhaps you are familiar with it...and Jasmine is not a true essential oil- it is an absolute- there are often traces of solvents remaining from the extraction process. It is ESSENTIAL that if you do use it you use very little and only the very best quality available. I do use some in my blends and I am usually wearing a little blending in something...in summer. Good Neroli is gorgeous- well diluted with other oils. Some citrus and floral is nice in the right proportion. I DO like Worwood btw as a good general reference for many things. I often recommend her book. If I were to suggest some simpler alternatives (only organic)- a kit you could prepare yourself- I would say these are a must: Rose Geranium is a great choice- very balancing and emotionally stabilizing- and good for pain- great for PPD as well. Clary Sage- for it's uplifting/euphoric qualities , relaxation and balance. helps labor along Lavender, angustifolia- I could write volumes! Peppermint- for pain relief and focus and energy- also nausea relief Rose otto- sheer beauty- a heart oil...love and healing Chamomile, roman- soothing, relaxing Tea tree- healing- good for healing after birth blends There are many more but these are some really good and solid basic essentials.... ....oh..I guess I'd probably add some Marjoram and Basil too....
