Guest guest
Dear Elizabeth, It seems I inadvertently hit a button and I am sorry to have made you feel that your values were attacked. That was not my intent at all and I am sincerely sorry for having upset you. All I wanted to do was to point out that there is MUCH disinformation and it serves each and every one of us to validate to the best of our abilities before we compound this problem by sending it on to others. Obviously, I am on this list to learn just like everyone else here. If you will reread my message you will see that I stated that I myself do not use Aspartame. At the end of the message I stated that I do NOT advocate anyone else to use Aspartame. In fact, the whole point of my message was NOT about Aspartame at all but about checking our sources before becoming party to disseminating doubtful information. I have no intention of debating your or anyone else's personal choices of product use..only to point out that fear is one of the most contagious emotions and that by feeding into it with faulty information we dilute the true studies that do need to be seen and heard. Disinformation and fear serves the good of no one. We must be clear headed and even handed in what we read, hear and see. That was the purpose of my sending the first post. I am sorry that my first post to this board has caused so much consternation. They would be the end of groups like this one if they have their way, btw and Doc's like Doc. Soon herbalists will have to meet in dark alleys....the FDA knows best after all. Mercury and formaldehyde are safe for our babies. On and on... Think for a moment of all the chemicals and toxins that are PERMITTED to be used in us and on us...on our crops, our earth, dumped in our waters...who's words should we trust? How much poison is safe for your family? How much poison is safe for YOUR baby? In your drinking water, bath water? In your can of tuna? In your can of pop? In your shampoo? In your cleaning products? In our children's school lunch? In our city's air? How many Big Macs or diet sodas can YOU eat before you are in chronic disrepair? They don't cost much...but what IS the PRICE WE PAY? I can't say how credible specifically each of the statements made in that article are. I do believe using chemicals like aspartame and splenda are harmful and have no place in the human diet. THEY ARE A LIE. Why on earth would anyone committed to healthy living and HERBS even consider such garbage? The only person I know who ever defended this junk was my Dad who died of cancer...he was trim and fit and even an ultra marathoner- but he believed in low fat no fat fake sugar GARBAGE! There are no shortcuts in reality....fake foods have consequences. My dad looked great but he's dead now. His hair was nice and black when he died from all the grecian formula that he bought into....what was left after all the drugs that is.... What was that nasty junk they were putting on potato chips that made people sick but tricked- the fake fat that was not digestible? And people wonder why they are sick? Why they are depressed? There are many websites on the internet that call anything counter to western mainstream medical ideology a hoax or scam. There are certainly many unscrupulous people out there and nasty MLMs happy to sell you snake oil at the highest price they can muster with God's seal of approval. But, unfortunately many of these "hoax" type websites are totally damaging to ANY alternative care such as herbal medicine, cleansing, homeopathy, aromatherapy, chiropractic, cranial sacral, reiki, etc, etc, etc..... I take their arguments with a grain of...sea salt! We need to get beyond the hype and see what is real...and what IS NATURAL and beautiful...while we can. We are destroying the earth and our bodies. The REAL issue here is are we to feed our bodies REAL whole foods that nourish us body mind and soul or become part of this fast food culture believing we can eat empty man made fabricated, chemical laden foods, fill our bodies with antibiotics, vaccinations and other assorted poisons to keep us healthy, and settle for all the diseases that now plague our communities. How much cancer will we tolerate before we wake up? What's the acceptable rate of autism in our babies? How many children need suffer from childhood obesity and diabetes? When will we start to connect the dots? I think people want something REAL to sink there teeth into- not another fix...not fake foods that promise to keep us thin and do no harm. Marilyn, I appreciate your desire to "set the record straight" but unfortunately for me, the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are not that far apart...and in fact are often found in bed with each other while the consumer suffers the consequences. Guest guest
Dear Elizabeth, Seems to me that we agree on most, if not all, points. It is possible for two people to agree that a rose is a rose even while looking at it from different angles. Thank for the reply. I suspect we have much to learn from each other and am grateful for finding this forum. Guest guest
Marilyn, I did read your post several times and yes I know you said you had personal reasons not to use aspartame. You brought to the surface something important- I am honestly glad you did. I don't feel my values are threatened- I just had an opportunity to articulate some of them....somewhat " passionately " ! ;-) The issue I took was in using the authority you cited- all those websites to make invalid the arguments put forth about the dangers of aspertame. It's all good...it's important on the one hand to question the source of the article and on the other hand...question the source of the critics....who happen to be the guys who call the shots here quite often- ie the FDA and mainstream Dr.s. That's all. I'm glad you are here and that you raised these points because I think they are meaningful and worthwhile to look at. I disagree with you, respectfully, that fear was the motivation for the article...I think love was....or that is my motivation for sharing the information with others here. I love this planet and the amazing human beings, animals and flora that grow here together...I want there to be a truly better and healthier future for generations to come....that's all.
