Guest guest
Suzi...Yes, yes, and yes. I have also given up caffeine, aspartame, meat, & dairy, drink only water or fresh juice, eat only live or steamed veggies. The pain is not as bad as it was a year ago, before the changes in diet, but never gone. I refuse to take all the & ^%$#@ (explicative deleated) crap that the doctor prescribes for pain, because it knocks me out, makes me loopy, and doesn't begin to fix the problem. The neurontin is an anti convulsive nervine, and helps. There is no generic form of it (in the US anyway...in Canada there is...have bought neurontin/gabapenten there before) However, I will soon be off neurontin, because I can no longer afford it. What little I have left, I'm tapering off, because if you go cold turkey, massive seizures result. ....windflower p.s. for those of you who may not know what peripheral neuropathy is...imagine a frayed electrical wire. if you touch the place where the covering is frayed, the electrical current takes a shortcut... through you. The current goes haywire, not to the intended place. PN is a nerve disease, like multiple sclerosis, where the myelin sheath of the nerves is " frayed " sending wrong signals... burning, searing, stabbing, intense pain for no reason whatsoever, to the brain. At the same time, legitimate pain is ignored, so if i step on a piece of glass and cut off half my toe, i don't realize it until i see the blood all over the floor. (happened) according to my medico, there is no cure, just pain pills and sleeping pills to keep me loopy.
