Guest guest
First the cupboards...i've been getting these pesky mothlike creatures for YEARS...every yr i have to spray monthly from may through sept...they find their way into grains, flours, cereals, chips (they're not too fussy) and even the sprays didn't control them...this year...i found " ortho natural insecticide " it's made from citrus peels and mineral oil, it's green stuff that's oily....sprayed it in may, they haven't been in there since...now let me admit i have seen one or two flyin'g around, but they are NOT in the cupboard, they must hate the smell (which i can't detect) or the residue or whatever....now for kittie......he has fleas....every year i used " frontline " or some such, got it from the vet, did a moderate job of control...this year i didn't wanna spend the bucks, used hartz over-counter and it didn't do diddley squat....he abhors regular baths, so i'm wondering if any of you have luck using any natural methods.....btw, i use borax on my hardwood floors, carpets, under couch cushions, and do not have a flea problem there at all.....thanks, peace, and hugs....ana
Guest guest
I have put a drop of eucalyptus or citronella on my cats collar and it works great. he goes out daily and i have only found a flea once! You do have do be a bit cautious to not over saturate the collar as both euacalyptus and citronella are very strong and can " burn " their delicate skin. Sorry about the typos... at work Sylvia herbal remedies , " C. Guest guest
I would never put these oils directly on myself or my animals. They have to be diluted. Try putting one drop of the oil of choice, on the collar and then rub it in so that the oil is imbedded in the collar and will not just rub off on the kitten or the furniture. I would try just one drop of oil to start with if he is really small as the smell is also very strong and it may upset him; if he gets used to it, he wont try to take the collar off due to the smell! If your kitten is really smal, as in too small for a collar, you can try a little hemp choker (yes as in the kind that are back in style aka the kind hippies used to wear) I made one for my cat (but then i make and sell hemp collars/chokers). Also Petco has some really small snap style collars that work great - we found a really small one that worked perfect for our cat and it worked fine all the way thru about 11 months. We took our cat in/he was a stray, so he had to be washed due to fleas. He was about 4 months old so it was not so scarry to wet and bathe him as it might be for say a 6 or 10 week old kitten, you will have to use your judgement on that same as the oils. We used diluted Dr Bronners (Almond Formula) it worked great and we continue to use that to bathe him from time to time. hope all this helps, Sylvia herbal remedies , " R. Guest guest
Hi Ana, The moths are hatching out of your grains. I usually keep my cereals in the fridge. I know some grains can draw moisture this way, but the best way to prevent the hatching out is keep the grains as cool as possible. If you hvae a basement or a " root cellar?
