Guest guest
Anna, I've also heard and read, from quite a few sources, that fat gain in one's midsection it is most often an indicator of insulin resistance. Get a copy of Diana Schwarzbein's book, " The Schwarzbein Principle. " She also has a second book out, " The Schwarzbein Principle II, The Transition " which goes into a lot more detail about the process of restoring your body so that you can lose the extra fat around your middle. Insulin resistance is a result of eating too many refined sugars and carbs as well as too many starchy carbs, and not enough protein, good fats and whole/unrefined carbs. And of course fat gain isn't the worst part of insulin resistance; it is a culprit in most of the degenerative deseases: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. Fern - <aljuarez <herbal remedies > Cc: <more_muscle > Monday, July 28, 2003 11:11 AM [herbal remedies] abdominal fat (die hard lard) > This is going to sound weird but I read in Women's World (one of those > magazines they sell in grocery stores at the checkout counter) that lack of > calcium can make you hoard your fat in the abdominal area. > > Well, that's my curse: a Buddha belly! Guest guest
Aha! I have hypothyroid, too, and have only started losing my tummy recently --- like you --- now that I'm doing something about the thyroid problem! I think we found a connection. - Anna karly writes: > The only time my tummy got big...and stayed that way (couldn't even cut my toenails!)...was when I discovered that I have hypothyroid (Hasimoto's to boot),got put on meds and the tummy has slowly been leaving! > Karly >
Guest guest
Calcium Citrate should be a supplement you don't go without. Wherever you choose to get it - food/supplements, and yes calcium helps to burn fat and make sure you take magnesium with it. Guest guest
Anna hon... I don't have too much to add to this, but I will share one thing. I used to be a lightweight bodybuilder (I'm talking over 10 years ago) and one thing that we all knew that was a surefire truth...do your aerobic activity (we did powerwalking on the beach) first thing in the morning before you eat anything. You burn fat twice as fast. When we were trying to get more cut and skim down the fat, it was the only way to do it naturally. Then, if you have carbs in your diet, eat them earlier in the day. We did oatmeal (real, rolled oats) for breakfast. Hugs and good luck Mic herbal remedies , aljuarez@z... wrote: > This is going to sound weird but I read in Women's World (one of those > magazines they sell in grocery stores at the checkout counter) that lack of > calcium can make you hoard your fat in the abdominal area. > > Well, that's my curse: a Buddha belly! Guest guest
That makes total sense Anna because after a lunch like that, you have a lot of protein for your body to rebuild the micro-muscle tears from lifting. I used to do protein shakes right after lifting to make sure that I had enough (being a vegetarian makes it a little bit more challenging but definitely do-able!)
