Herbs and food - hops

Not that I'm an expert by any means, but, here is my story with hops.

When I had my first (of 7) child, I was having trouble nursing when I got home from the hospital. I frantically called my old country doc and he advised me to get a bottle of German (the dark kind, any brand) beer and drink a half-glass every day.

Since I am not a drinker, the first bottle put me to sleep (and the baby learned to nurse without me - could I have been a nervous first-time mother or what?!?). When I took my son in for his first check up I asked the doc again about the German beer and he said it was an old country recipe where he came from - not only did it relax the mother and allow the baby to nurse, but the hops was good for producing milk. I ended up using the Beer remedy for each of my children and not only did I have enough milk, but I ended up selling it to hospitals for premies.

I also lived on a pig farm and we began giving it to the sows as they were birthing their young (using a couple of bottles mixed in with their water). As any pig farmer knows, some first-time sows will kill their young, and even older sows sometimes lay on their piglets. But after using the German Beer, we never lost a piglet. Usually, by the time the sows drank the beer and woke up, their piglets had nursed and learned to get out of the way of the sow.

I never did find out if the sows had any hangovers, though. :)

Can herbs be added to food as a seasoning. My mother read that hops is very good for you so she drinks a beer in the evening. I do not care for beer. Is it possible to add hops, scullcap, chamomile, passion flower, or any other herb to your food.Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2.
