Guest guest
Hello. I am writing in hopes that someone may be able to help me. My concern is for my father-inlaw. He has been suffering a great deal for almost a year now, and the doctors keep telling him he has allergies. Finally about 3 months ago he was diagnosed with Stephen Johnson's Syndrome. I have read a lot about it since, and it can be fatal if not treated. His body is going through so much, and his skin is literally burning from the inside out. Now a so-called specialist told him to take Benadryl and go home. The poor man can't sleep, is so weak, in a lot of pain and extremely frustrated. Can you offer any help and/or advise? Thank you. Guest guest
•Aloe vera juice-drink it straight or with apple juice. You can buy it by the gallon. •Acidophilus capsules •Yogurt with live bacteria (buy it at health food store) •Fresh goats milk •Lavender essential oil about 20 drops mixed with 8 oz. cool distilled water for skin burning...put it in a spritz type bottle, shake it up before very use. •Goat Milk baths-use about a quart to a waist deep bath. •Golden Seal and Echinacea extract-put under tongue, swish around after about 30 seconds, swallow what's left. •Chamomile-tea, bath, spritz •Spearmint-tea, bath, spritz •Rose essential oil-bath, spritz •Sandalwood essential oil-bath •Catnip-tea •Slipper Elm-tea Everything eaten should be cooling, soothing, nurturing...No acidy food or drinks...Hope this helps, I'm sure he is miserable..these should be started right away. Guest guest
Debbie, First thought is to call DOC... 2nd thought is a total cleanse and to ask what his diet consists of. Also, I would have him start taking Total Tonic and Total Nutrition. You can easily make the total tonic quickly. SuziDebbie <mrs_b2u2002 wrote: Hello. Guest guest
Here is a short discription os SJS - Originally published in Wellbeing Magazine (Australia), September 1999 Stevens Johnson Syndrome, or SJS, is an extreme allergic reaction, usually to a drug, but also to certain bacterial and viral infections. "We usually distinguish between three forms," said Dr. Bernard Cohen, MD, of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, "A milder form called Erythema Multiforme Minor, or EM, Stevens Johnson Syndrome, SJS, and TENS, or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Syndrome, the most severe form. With EM, which can be recurrent, there will be lesions on the distal extremities [lower legs and arms] and in the mouth; there is little mucous membrane involvement, however. With SJS, which is usually not recurrent, there are usually blistering ulcerations of the cornea, mouth, rectum, genitalia, skin, and urethra, usually accompanied by a high fever and generalized weakness. TENS involves the entire skin and mucous membrane; the skin literally sloughs off of the person's body." While there are a number of infectious causes that can initiate an SJS reaction, the most common culprits are drugs. The drugs most implicated are anti-convulsants (like phenobarbitol), sulfonamides, or sulfa drugs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory's (NSAIDS), including ibuprofen, barbiturates, and antibiotics such as amoxicillin and tetracycline. "We just lost a 17 year old boy in Kansas City to SJS apparently caused by tetracycline, " Farrell said ruefully. "He was taking it for his acne. We also have a woman whose daughter went blind after taking ibuprofen. People need to realize that over the counter drugs can cause SJS too."
