I am from Australia so hopefully any remedies or herbs that you suggest I can purchase or obtain. I am doing some ear candle-ing on saturday, and would like to make up an ear oil that will not only soothe the ear afterwards but also be a good preventative for infection and help to dissolve any wax that may still be left in the ear. I know mullein is good and I have that in tincture form and can add that to a pure olive oil base but I would like other suggestions excluding garlic as I do not have that in tincture and would not be able to make that up before then...would hypericum do well? You are very welcome. ;o) My suggestion is to put the mullein and garlic in your organic olive oil in either powder or ground up form rather than in tincture form. Blend the dickens out of it and then let it set for a while. In an emergency you could use it right away. A small amount used 15 minutes to an half an hour before candling would soften the wax etc. and would help to get the biochemical properties of the herbs in there quicker by increasing the circulation when the area heated up. Do you really think it would get so hot that damage would be done?????? My medical doctor had never seen anyone with that before. He assumed I had some weird exotic disease and I tried to explain about ear candles but you could tell that he tuned me out and didn't listen as soon as he heard the words " ear candle. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2003 Report Share Posted July 25, 2003 just my $.02 my i've never heard of the heat itself getting that intense...but as with everything there are many different types of ear candles...some better than others...the not so good ones have a tendency to drip hot wax back in your ear (since the candles are coated with some sort of wax--parafin or bees)...anyway...i could imagine not even noticing this at the time b/c of all the other sensations going on when you ear candle...but i would think this would be more likely the cause of the burn than the heat getting that bad--either that or keeping it in too long and letting the candle burn down too far. makes sense to me to oil the ear before hand b/c the looser the wax the more beneficial the candling process. luv laura herbal remedies , aljuarez@z... wrote: > I <know> stuff in your ear can get so hot that damage will be done. I am just warning folks that if you put oil (or anything else) in your ear and then heat it up, you can have dire consequences.
