Does it matter if the cornsilk is browned on top... I mean do you use just the part which is inside the ear of corn and cut off the browned top or use it too? never had an ocassion to use but I have some on hand... and got to wondering..

Fresh is not brown, dried is brown. I have dried and it works, although if you have fresh it would most likely work too. I have only seen it in recipes as dried.
