Erin,

I chucked corn 2 weeks ago and saved the silk... the top which is outside on the top is brown..what is inside (protected by the leaves) is the pale yellow color... it has dried for 2 weeks... and no change... so... it's all dry....

On this I have no suggestion because I tried the same thing. Mine sat out for over a month and no change in color either. It also didnt feel like the texture of the cornsilk I had ordered from a reputable supplier (Jeans Greens). Now hers felt dry and was brown. I am wondering if letting it air dry is not enough. The top of mine was brown before chucked too. It definitely is confusing

Fresh is not brown, dried is brown. I have dried and it works, although if you have fresh it would most likely work too. I have only seen it in recipes as dried.Erin
