Guest guest
Our local paper has a section titled Dr. Donahue that has many home remedies in it for minor ailments etc. Today it talked about leg cramps and many people say to put a bar of soap in bed and you will not get leg cramps. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? My mother suffers leg cramps quite often and she is going to try it tonight. I just hope she keeps the soap on her own side of the bed or she may have to explain to Dad what a bar of soap is doing in the bed and he'll think she's crazy. Guest guest
One woman places a bar of soap at the bottom of the bed where her legs are, another woman states she has a bar of soap beside her and when she gets a leg cramp she rubs the soap against her leg, and a man says he wears sweatpants to bed and puts a bar of soap in each pant leg. Now I know this may sound funny, but Dr. Donohue says he got many e-mails that says a bar of soap gets rid of leg cramps and that is why he wrote the article. Guest guest
Erin Are there potential safety issues associated with your recommendation of high potassium supplements? Other options to explore are Magnesium (lots of folks are Magnesium deficient) and vitamin E. Some folks benefit from quinine. I also wonder if there are any circulatory issues. mjh mjh Not that I know of. My father is on high blood pressure medication which can cause potassium loss. He began experiencing bad leg cramps and began upping the potassium in his diet considerably every day. However, it was not enough. My mother bought some potassium supplements at the pharmacy and his leg cramps stopped and stayed away. It worked for him, so I was offering this is as a possible suggestion.
