Guest guest
I can only speak for my state...it is illegal for them to " pull a test'.....I am required to register, (fill out a card), give them a list of the curriculum I am going to use, they CAN show up and sit in on the lessons.....but that is the extent of it. They cannot test, suggest curriculum, etc. Now if we put them back in public school they can test for their level, and place them accordingly. 1st thing is DO NOT call or go to the school board for information!!!!!! Or ANYbody that is connected to the school!!! Find other homeschoolers that know the LAWS in YOUR STATE. Get copies of these laws, KNow your stuff, read up on it. That way they can't pull a smooth one on you!!!!! Yes we do have rights, some states may be limited as far as " your " rights. But find out what they are, and use them. Don't take anyones word on these laws-----GET A COPY OF THE LAW IN WRITING!!! Don't even take anybodies word on how to enroll in homeschool, get it in writing also. (Get it from another homeschooler, not the county.) I'm sure you will find someone who will be happy to help you.....Most homeschoolers know their stuff, and will help you get started.....MOst states have a Homeschooling Association, someone that knows the laws and will even give you legal advice, and representation if needed. You just have to find them---they are usually sort of " underground " , in most cases...lol. I'm glad you are at least thinking about this...Gaye
