Guest guest
Your Mother's finger turning black sounds like me...(My rings are 14k gold) I think I am over-acid when this happens. Terrible heartburn, acid reflux, etc. I haven't heard too much iron causes this...that's something I need to check on for myself. Guest guest
" precious metals " 10kt, 18kt etc. white or gold and even platinum are mixed with alloys. The alloys can vary according to whomever the mfg was. Rose gold has more copper etc. I don't know the list of the alloys and which is used more less, here or there but if you could find out which alloy the ring was mixed w/ you may find your answer. I never have had a problem w/ gold turning my skin black or less pure gold causing dicoloration or rashes unless it starts getting into the 10Kt range. Silver is the same w/ me except I have noticed some silver will leave a black discoloration and very slight allergy at times, but not always. If I was to guess I would say copper is what is causing discoloration but not rashes. This is my personal experience, and if you ever run across people who wear copper they most always have skin discoloration from it.
