My daughter has been having panic/anxiety attacks...The doctors have run tests to make sure her heart is okay, at first they thought it was heart arthmia (sp?). But, the cardiologist seem to think everything has checked out okay.

So now, they want to put her on Prozac until she can get to a therapist and Psychologist.

I am begging yall PLEASE TELL ME SOMETHING THAT WILL REPLACE THIS THAT WON'T BE SO AWFUL.

She's only sixteen, she weighs about 105lbs. a little over 5 ft. tall.

Her diet? Oh, I know it's awful. When she does eat, it's only three or four bites...(personally, I think she's borderline eating disorder). She loves fruits and veggies, but she eats chips, soda, junk, etc. away from the house. Her personal favorite is french fries dipped into a milk shake if that tells yall anything. But, she only eats a little at a time. And, then it's only twice a day if I'm lucky.

I was thinking about the female formula and total nutrition, but do yall have any other suggestions to either go along with or other than this...

I know she's allergic to penicillin, Monistat, rocephin, just about any pain meds and that stuff they give you to calm you right before surgery. It does the exact opposite on her, she really goes bonkers.

On second thought, let me describe her symptoms before I label her with anxiety...

Usually, it's wee early morning hours, but not always...she wakes up with extreme headaches, then she'll just be trembling and says she's very scared but doesn't know why, and she faints. Sometimes, she's puked during these episodes, and when she comes to she stumbles all over the place like a drunk...still having the headache and being scared too death. She reminds me of a cat I saw once in the last stages of rabies without the foaming mouth. She really doesn't really know what's going on or who is around until she comes out of it. But, even when she comes back to her mind, she's extremely frazzled and anxious. The last time this happened she went to the hospital and it took hours and hours, I'm talking like six hours to get her heart rate down to a normal pace. At first they thought it was something wrong with her heart, then they thought maybe cluster migraines then they came to the conclusion of extreme anxiety attacks.

Like I said, at first it was only during early morning hours like 3am, but now it's starting to happen in the day time.

Here's a little history:

I had a pediatrician that would give her antibiotics for a little sneeze when she was little, hence the allergic reaction now. Then, when she was around 10 she fell off a trampoline separating her left collar bone from both ends. The doctors didn't figure this out for six weeks. In the mean time, she got strep throat and the infection got into her bones and she was on some high powered antibiotic for two years. Yeap, I said two years. That went from bone cancer to some kind of rare bone disease to bone infection. And, her collar bone still gives her problems to this day and we also think she's got a damaged nerve from the bone trying to grow back. (They went in and hollowed the clavicle out trying to get as much infection as possible, and I guess it takes years and years for stuff like that to grow back.)

And, when she first started her period she would have migraines so bad her eye balls would roll back into her head and she'd faint from the pain. She hasn't had one of those in a while, unless what she's having now is a graduation of those pre-menstrual migraines.

Personally, I think her hormones are dipping alot more than what's normal (is there a such of thing) for teenagers.

Then, right before she started having these recent attacks she was having what looked like high sugar attacks. Really, bad headaches and the finger prick test would showed really high for her sugar, but the three hour fasting and the three hour non fasting showed normal limits, so...who knows what that was.

Now, she's started having these things.

Is her body rejecting itself or what?

Two months ago she had her tonsils and adnodes (sp?) taken out because she had a sore throat every couple of days and strep every other month and with her being allergic to everything under the sun, they just took em.

And, I know yall are wondering with me being on this list why the hell I've let all this be done to her...well, she doesn't live with me. She lives with my mom. I was having alot of trouble out of her and it was coming down to one of us really hurting the other and she's always wanted to go to college in Florida (where my mom lives) so I let her go...and that's all I'll say right now. If you really want details I'll be more than willing if it will help her not to have to take prozac. But, for now let's just say that I wasn't the best mom as I lived with my mother for ten years of Abby's life and my mother was the mama of the house. And she wasn't the best role model. They have money and that's enough for Abby. Anyhow, I got married and was bound and determined that we weren't going to live like that anymore, but after six years I couldn't take it anymore. When she joined a gang and done all the things she had to do to be accepted just to spit me, I let her go back to mama. I'd rather have her a money loving floozy than to be doing the things she was doing in that gang. I did everything I could think of from embarrassing her (that caused me to have to whip her like a grown woman when she took a swing on me) to grounding her for a month at a time to taking every single thing out of her bedroom except her bed. She just didn't care. I even tried letting her just go like she wanted telling her she was responsible for her actions (scared too death she was going to come up dead or worse) and that didn't work. So, my mother came to get her in February and the rest is history...mama says she's doing fine, my brother doesn't like anything she does...so, I don't know.

But, can yall please help me with something besides prozac?

Thanks,

Angel

At this point, I don't mind talking or typing anything...so, if I left out something you need to know...just ask.

We're desperate. Oh, my mother and I are on good terms so I know she'll try something I ask her to, she is as much against psychotic drugs as I am.

IF NOTHING ELSE, THANKS FOR READING...

Let me clarify something,

I myself was on prozac because I hated my step father with a purple passion all through my later teens because he came into my life at 16 and decided that my brother and I needed some responsibility and he thought I was his personal touching post...they labeled it post traumatic stress disorder with borderline manic depression.

If things would have been different and I got my butt busted a little more often and my mother had thought my body and feelings were more important than money, I don't think I would have needed the prozac.

What did it do for me? I happily sat up at all during times of the night trying to think of a way to kill my step father (and take my mother out, if need be) and get away with it. I couldn't handle the stress this was causing on my mind...there had to be a way, I just wasn't "intelligent" enough to figure it out, so then I took about a half bottle of 10mg valium because I was disappointed in myself. The state of Florida Baker Acted my butt (they have a law where they can keep you locked up in a mental ward up to 72 hours without your consent if you are caught taking any prescription med that hasn't been prescribed to you.) I pacified them, they let me go and I got the hell out of Florida and away from THE TOXIC SITUATION.

This all happened within about ten years, seriously. I was just numb for the next five and I've come a long way in the last five, but I still have a long way to go.

Needless to say, I put anything that is allopathically mind altering right up there with chemo and radiation.

I have no formal education in any of this stuff outside of my own personal research, but I do tend to sway heavily on personal experience.

Even now my husbands family labels me as the worst anti-social witch this side of the Mississippi because I refuse to tolerate a liar or a thief or people that use you just to get what they want...

So you take that prozac if you want, I'd rather be a lonely old witch than a doped up loony tune.

You have a wonderful day.

Angel

Sounds like brain not heart. Is she taking drugs? Prozac will only add to her problems. Her attacks sound like seizures. You could start her on Nerve Sedative formula, but it would only be a bandaid. Definately have your mom mix up some Total Tonic and get it down her any way she can. Total Nutrition above all else right now. Let us know what is going on.

Prozac is extremely bad and it is only covering your depression with a bandaid. Whatever is the underlying cause is still there eating away at you.

There is all kinds of stuff available to " anyone " at quick stops,

service stations, etc. Mini-thins, energy tablets, ginseng pills, I

can't think of all the names, but they almost ALL have some form of

ephedrine, ephedra, (and if they don't have ephedra, they have strong

caffeine that can cause the same), and one of the side effects is fast

heart rate if using more than the recommended dosage. And even with the

normal dosage, after taking them awhile you get fast

heartrate...Phenylpropanolamine (major ingredient in diet pills) will do

this too...BEEN there DONE that...my daughter & I both took what we

thought was safe herbal diet-energy pills, I didn't know anything about

ephedra at the time...I DO NOW...we both eventually had fluttering

heart, fast heartrate, head pounding, at times I still do, and haven't

used them in over a year...I " personally " think that they damage your

heart and or nerves...just the least bit of caffeine sets my heart to

racing, jittery, hands shaking, etc.

And if she is not eating enough on top of it, the symptoms could be

exaggerated. Gaye

Hi John,

You can take it all three ways. Depends on your tastes. Literally. For adults take one to three cups per day of tea, 2 to 3 caps 3 times a day or 15 to 30 drops three times a day. For children follow the 150 rule.
