Guest guest
I'm guessing that making milk from sprouted almonds is the same as non-sprouted? so... Put about 2 cups of water in a blender and add about a half cup of almonds slowly blending in between each time you add. from here it is a matter of taste. Continue to add up to another 1/2 cup of almonds until you get the consistancy and flavor you like. I remember i orginally tried making my own almond milk back in the 80's when i read about it in Fit for Life. I also use almonds when I make smoothies in order to thicken them up and make them creamier instead of milk or dairy (as well as sometimes using coconut milk!) Did some Winter Wheat that tastes GREAT!Even my 5 year old son loves it! I'm doing barley now,and alfafa next. But would love to try sproutingalmonds and making almond milk out of it, if I knewhow to make the milk.=====John Ybarra We are free to evade the effort of thinking, to reject reason, but we are not free to avoid the penalty of the abyss we refuse to see.SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!http://sbc.Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
depends on your particular taste and what you are using it for. I have never felt the need to strain it. Guest guest
Back in jan or feb we had this discussion if you check the message archives... here is Lisa's recipe Almond Milk Soak 1/4 cup raw almonds in 1 cup of distilled/purified water overnight. Pour the almonds and the water they were soaked in into a blender and add raw honey and vanilla if you wish. Blend for 2 minutes. You can strain the mixture after blending if you wish. I do, as I don't like the gritty taste of the milk otherwise. Suzi SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!
Guest guest
Hi guys, I see that Suzi has already posted the recipe. Thanks Suzi :-) Please note that Valorie, Doc's wife, taught me how to make this - it's her recipe. And it's delicious :-) What I normally do, is use 200gr raw organic almonds, sprout them, and then blend them, which gives me 2 litres of milk. Half of this I strain to use for drinking, and half of it I don't strain, which I then use for cereals etc, and in my smoothie in the mornings. This lasts me max 2 days, which is just about right. I find it doesn't keep longer anyway. Happy drinking :-) love, Lisa - John Ybarra herbal remedies Monday, July 07, 2003 10:34 PM [herbal remedies] sprouted almond milk --- Lisa Belcher <lisabelcher wrote:> Hi Sylvia,> > I live in the UK. I lived for about 3 months totally on carrot juice with apple and celery and occasionally beets, maybe a bit of cabbage and what ever else i could conjure up and never felt better nor more energetic in my life. Then I went back to eating vegies and mostly what other people eat but continued taking at least two pounds of carrots etc through the juicer. Before I did this I arose in pain and went to bed in pain. While juicing I even held down two jobs for some time. Then I quit the juice as i got tired of messing with that fandangled juicer and couldn't find decent carrots except at the health store and they wanted 2 dollars a lb! . Not long before i was back in pain. Too busy, up night and day working on computer programming and not time to think about it. Then my hands got reall bad. had to do something about it. Now I usually have brand flakes with wheat germ, oat bran, ground flax, and ginger to fortify it, and wet down with soy milk labeld not GE., then later a tossed salad with fat free dressing, then maybe an energy bar with glass of soy milk, couple of hours later an apple or banana with maybe a few pecans or raisins, then for main meal a vegetable casserole with all fresh frozen vegies and brown rice seasoned with a bit of maybe fahita seasoning and sprinkled with chicken breast bits, then later half a can of slim-fast (just recently started) and if get too hungry (seldom) a bit of popcorn. I don't eat anything too close to bedtime as have trouble with esophageal acid reflux. Have to sleep with pillows piled high to keep the acid where it belongs. No problem. I have been diagnosed with RA, fibromylgia, peripheral Neuropathy, and esophageal acid reflux. Otherwise i am in good condition. I walk about 30 to 60 minutes a day, work in my garden and keep my house reasonably clean, and do a bit of volunter work one day a week. Rhuematoligist prescribes 5 mg prednisone daily, ..when I did the test then got off it my RA flared up monstrously so he insists on the minimum of pred for now. I only take 3 prescriptions; the pred and also Naproxen 500mg twice a day and Plaquenil 200mg twice a day. For the acid reflux i gave away the nexium and started taking acidolphus, enzymes and DGL (De-gly...Licoris) and it is doing better than the Nexium and Zantax or whatever. ( the acidophilus between meals as needed, the DGL before meals and as needed and the enzymes after meals when needed.) I also take 00 cap of ginger extra with morning meal, vit E and multivitamins and more ground flax seed with salad or what ever , and use strong tincture of ginger root to bathe my hands and joints when needed and the last batch I added comfrey as it is good, too. I use comfrey salve that I make for any bruises or minor wounds, cold sores (seldom have unless feet get cold). Have a formula for pain I use occasionally with tincture of oats, scullcap, vervain, camomile and two other ingredients that I forget at this moment. Just a few drops under the tongue. Pretty good. Better than NSAIDs Four years ago a gentleman (Jim) gave me the formula almost the exact replica of the one DOC posted as Intestinal cleans #1 and Jim says he got it from book by Dr Schol (SP)! It had so much birds eye pepper in it I was afraid to take it until a couple of weeks ago ( I had encapsulated it and what is wierd, I did not remember the date that I got it but decided to call the gent today and when I looked at the receipt where i bought it with his name and phone number it was dated 8 Jul 1999, just exactly 4 years ago!!!) Anyway, I had started taking it a couple of weeks ago but was worried as to how much i should take and that was the reason i called him. Anyway, taking one a day of that. Will start taking two a day and see how that works out. (forgive the lack at times of capitols. My left pinkie is so numb i can't always hit the shift or caps or the a and ssss.! and I hate taking so much time correcting stuff!) I had the RA pretty well in control while I was taking ginger root daily, but quit when Dr gave me other medications but I have been going back to it as it has helped tremendously and I am hoping to through out the prednisone (sp) in time. I am in really good health other than the above and very thankful. Know a lot of folks less fortunate. Have good color, skin pretty good for my age, fair muscle for my age.. it's my idiot mind that's going! Getting absent minded. Ask me the time, I'll tell you how to build a clock! sorry ..got started didn't know where to quit. Love, Lee.
Guest guest
Lee, sounds like you're on the right track... add total tonic to your diet and cayenne. I'm sure Doc will have more to say.
