It's me again...another question...

Good morning,

I have this eczema (sp?) on my foot.

Most nights I soak it in hot water with Epsom salts...seems to help more than tea tree alone.

But, tonight I put some peppermint drops in the water. It lit them up, I'll tell ya. But, I just dried them and didn't wash it off.

Anyhow, after that, I put some straight tea tree on it and then covered that with the liquid of some vitamin E caps.

This is my question,

With me being pregnant, can I still use all this stuff?

I feel comfortable with the Epsom salts and vit E, but I'm just not real sure about the tea tree or peppermint EO...

I didn't think about it until I had already done it...I had this dream the other night that the baby was born with this same stuff on my foot ALL over it's body...and now I'm scared too death the baby's gonna get it too...so, I really want to at least try to keep it at bay...

What do you guys think?

Everyone tells me I can not do a cleanse of ANY kind, except maybe lots of clean water and organic juice...and, I'm already drinking so much reverse osmosis (sp?) water now that my urine has hardly any color at all, really.

Thanks so much,

Angel

P.S. Just to let yall know for any future need...or present..I cut way, way down on smoking because it was making me deathly nauseous...I also noticed that this dry, burning heartburn that I have goes away also...and only comes back when I smoke over three or four cigarettes a day. And, it doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat...it's only the smoking that causes it...for me that is, anyway.

I'm thinking that maybe the ever popular heart burn that most all expectant mama's talk about has more to do with something that doesn't agree with being pregnant than what your eating or not or how many meals a day. Maybe for some mommies it is some kind of food, but for me it was only the smoking.

Congrats about cutting down on the smoking! Keeping it to four or less a day is excellent.

Peppermint and tea tree oil topically on your feet will not harm the baby. Is it a form of athlete's foot? Tea tree should really help clear that up if it's the case.

Good Morning yourself -

Ok - Honestly? I'm wondering how you can be worried about the

peppermint oil and tea tree you are using topically and any possible

ill effect they might have on your baby and yet not seem concerned

about the 599 ingredients you're putting into your and your baby's

systems from the cigarettes that you're smoking...take a look at the

list...acetic acid, ammonia, amyl alcohol, benzoic acid, carbon

dioxide, caffeine, ethyl alcohol, tannic acid etc...ugh! no wonder

they give you heartburn and make your feel nauseous!

http://www.tobacco.org/resources/general/599ingredients.html

I used to be a smoker and I liked smoking. I quit when I had my kids

and it was hard. I tried a few times unsuccessfully and then got mad

at myself and went off camping by myself for a few days and resolved

to be a non-smoker when I came out of the woods. I smoked all the

cigarettes I wanted for 2 days. Just before I left to go home, I went

and sat by a lake and dug a hole in the sand and buried my cigarettes

and lighter. I haven't lit up since. I know its hard. Nothing

harder. Thing is when you smoke - its not just you smoking - your

baby is smoking too....that's the picture that kept me motivated.

Best of luck!

Joyce

PS - for your foot: try making a paste of oatmeal and water and apply

that to your foot or add oatmeal to your foot bath.

Well i have had bouts of eczema off and on from the time i was 17 until present day. It runs in my family; my grandma had it, my dad and one of my uncles had it, my daughter has it (so far none of the grandsons do!)

Stress has brought on most of the worst bouts, and I have noticed that when I eat poorly, the same thing.

I tired all the creams and even much worse, steriod treatment when my face looked like raw hamburger one time. Amazingly, the treatment with oils and herbs works so much better and is not affecting or wearing down the rest of my body. My husband and I are trying to eduacate my daughter in these ways as well, and so far it is helping her. She is using Dr Bronners for bathing, the Tea Tree one, and she is now convinced that this is better than the creams and other garbage that we have all been given in the past. It really helps dry the little blisters up.

I have tried the oatmeal stuff before and did not have as good of results as i do with the oils. I am at work right now, but when i get home tonight, i will look up the section on eczema again regarding some of the other remedies if you are still intersted (off-line if you prefer?).

Thanks for all that, personally, I think everyone has the right to say what ever they feel...instead of judging me silently and my never being able to defend myself. But, please know you're in my heart for this last post.

I have had this stuff for about three or four years and at first it was only on my left foot on the outside ankle...then, it moved around my foot until it's now on the arch of both my feet...

I can't figure this mess out for nothing because my husband and children haven't got it...so, I don't THINK it's contagious. It bothered me once so much with the blisters and itching I broke down and went to the MD...and amazingly he told me he didn't know what it was...He told me it could be yeast, herpes, or some kind of athlete's foot or something else he just hadn't heard of...

Now, imagine an MD saying something like that...I was amazed that one would admit they didn't know everything..

Anyhow, I've put creams on it that cost 42 dollars for just 1/2 oz., didn't help it at all. I've soaked it in bleach and water that was so strong it burned the rest of my foot...just like a sunburn...it helped, but didn't get rid of it. And, at my husband's insistence I finally tried Epsom salt and hot water. I wasn't scared, just thought it was a waste of time...and now the blisters don't come up. But, I worry that what ever is in them are just going somewhere else now.

Then, when I joined this board I learned about tea tree and I've been using it after soaking in Epsom salt and it seems to do good. But, it was drying the feet out so bad the skin would crack and peel...so, that's why I put the vit E on them afterwards. And, I never liked anything on my feet, even when I went in public, until they started staying cold all the time, so now I try to keep them naked as much as possible to air dry.

The only reason I put the peppermint oil in the water last night is I know my feet have bad circulation because even in the summer, my feet stay cold and in the winter I can't hardly feel some of my toes even inside the house...so, I'd be willing to bet I have bad circulation. And, I know if the circulation is bad...healing will take longer or maybe not at all. And, also when I shave my legs and nick around my ankles it takes much longer for those little bitty nicks to heal than ones say...on my knees. And, I was thinking that peppermint (among other things, I just have that on hand) is good for circulation.

Still interested to hear what yall think...

Thanks so much,

Angel

I was wondering about that too, but since i am new, i wasnt sure if it was acceptable to "go there" and if so what to say. Thanks for being brave as i was not, I hope that she can quit both for her own sake and that of her baby :)Personally the reason I am not really commenting was because she was asking about her foot and eczema, not to have personal comments on people's opinions on other areas of her life. She was saying she was cutting down on smoking, not asking for advice and lectures. Everyone has their own opinions, I was trying to help her out with what she was asking about (the eczema on the foot). I know we are all judgemental to different degrees but it's not always appropriate to voice them, in

my humble opinion at least. Angel, I also didnt notice it was eczema before, thats why I had wirtten if it was athlete's foot. Is it only on the foot, and only suddenly? Have you ever had eczema before? With eczema, if it were me, I would try more than tea tree. I would also try the oatmeal suggestion someone previously made right before me. A soothing cream with herbs and aloe would should feel nice as well. If you have chickweed infused oil, comfrey infused oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, etc, you get the picture : ) Let us know what you have if the tea tree/peppermint combo doesnt seem to be working and maybe we could help you come up with something.Cheers,Erin Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1.
