Guest guest
It can be, but it can also be caused by a large inflow of foods loaded full of enzyme inhibitors. You can eat a whole bowl of beans and if they've been sprouted, you'll not have a "fluffy" attack ;o) Love, Doc PS. If one has a lot of gas, this is indicative of something being out, and the cause should be found. Guest guest
Doc, The garlic situation was an odd case. I was just trying to make it in reference to every day living and allude to the fact that if the proper system doesn't exist in the gut then food doesn't get broken down properly and putrefaction occurs. It was a very simplistic analogy and I WAS really tired! But thank you for your explanation! And I think I'll blame my hubby's MOTHER for not teaching him anything about cooking! I certainly can't blame ME ILANA xoxo Dr. Ian Shillington wrote: Dear Ilana, Your analogy of the landfill is a good one though perhaps not applicable in this case. A full "bulb" of garlic would be enough for anyone to turn on a major detox if they were even only somewhat toxic. I'd be willing to bet that the "gas" and the pain weren't the only symtoms you turned on. The way I read it, is that you took too much garlic on too steep a gradient, and the gas was only a byproduct of detox rather than the actual cause if you see what I mean. If you were in perfect health, I strongly doubt that a bulb would do that to you. The way to overcome this would be to start again with only one raw clove a day. If that was tooooo much, start off with half a clove, and then work up from there. One of the beautiful things about natural healing is that even though you (or maybe I should blame this on your hubby ;o), overdid the garlic that one day, you did not do any permanent damage to your system. In fact you may have stressed it, but you would have come through the other side better off, once you had recovered. Hope this helps. So he fed me bruschetta made with a whole head of raw garlic and I couldn't get out of bed until 10:30am the next day (am at work by 8am usually) I had so much pain in my gut from the trapped gas. Now that is obviously a sign that my body wasn't digesting properly and I could make a direct connection between the garlic and my pain. I know I can't digest raw garlic properly so that's evidence for me which points towards gas not being a sign of good health. I get that trapped gas problem from time to time and it's usually when I've eaten something I know I can't handle. Not sure that the damage is about, though. One of the problems with landfill sights, just as a sort of comparison, is that proper breakdown of the garbage can't occur because there is no air under all those layers so the bacteria which rely on oxygen can't live there and the bacteria that end up going to work are the ones that don't need oxygen to survive. And what they end up producing is gas, specifially methane, which leads to this problem with greenhouse gasses. I don't know if this is a good analogy at all because I'm really really tired, but after a good night's sleep maybe I'll be able to turn this into something that makes sense. Does it make sense? The digestion can't happen properly so the by-product is gas, but if there was proper aeration (ie - conditions for digestion) the gas doesn't get produced. The garbage in the landfill doesn't break down properly so it rots and produces gas. There you go. That makes more sense now. ILANA xoxo Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1.
