Guest guest
Hello: I am new to the group and wanted some suggestions from you as to help and treatment with herbs. I see from the sharings here there are so many that seem to be knowledgeable about various herbs that I feel certain at least some of you can give me ideas, have had experiences or know of someone that had been helped by particular herbs or combinations. I actually have not been diagnosed by a physician to have ADHD but have come to the conclusion myself. I am an adult male and am 49 years of age. I began having panic attacks and depression about 10 years ago. I feel I have dealt with the issues surrounding those circumstances. Have not had a panic attack in about 9 years but have continued on a low dosage of Ativan and am now taking Lexipro for depression. I do have trouble maintaining my attention on things at work, get bored easily, am very impatient and maintain a general uneasy feeling and have trouble relaxing. I also have sleep apnea and I realize some nights I do not get the rest I need even though I do use CPAP as directed by the doctor. I do not worry about things as I used too and do not feel down/depressed. I just feel I need something to take the edge off and to help me stay calm and to keep my mood on a level plain. I also do not want to take other medications if i do not have too and if possible would like to be able to get off the ones I am on. I have read about a number of herbs for nervous conditions including Kava Kava, Passion Flower, California Poppy, Catnip, Chamomile, Gotu Kola, Lemon Balm, St. Johns Wort, Thyme, Valerian Root and Hops. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for being here. Joe Montgomery, AL

There isn't just one or two herbs that will fix this. First you have to know the cause, or if you really have ADHD. Normally the hyperactivity in children matures to anger in adults. Sounds like you may have ADD anyway, not ADHD. Either way ADHD and ADD and autism are caused from either too much pharmacutical iron during pregnancy, or shortly afte birth or mercury toxicity from tooth fillings in pregnant woman, and the fathers. After conception there's high mercury foods such as tuna and lesser infected fish, and ect. Then after birth mercury toxicity from childhood vaccines. There are something like 22 vaccines required before the 5th year of life, and they far exceed a safe amount of mercury for an adult. After vaccination there is a fever the body gets " they " call normal but isn't. It is encephalitis (brain infection). It causes damage, more in the gifted than any other. The more gifted, the more damage which is why every ADD, ADHD and autistic kids far exceed in some things. Tightens my jaw and breaks my heart just to think of it. Poor innocent precious babies. So now you have the cause. Deworming your body (people think to do this for their animals but the need to do themselves escapes them), need to do that to get the organs functioning right to handle some minor cleaning, liver gallbladder flush (the one I have had for 16 years is the very same one on file here), to prepare the liver for some more dumping and cleaning of the body. Then you are ready for the poor man's oral chelation that will rid your body of heavy metals. Heavy metals settle in the pancreas. One reason ADD, ADHD and autistic kids can't handle sugar is pancreas is not workin right. Need a pancreatic healing and flushing of heavy metals and after that you need to redo the deworming. All types of things hide behind that metal barrier in the pancreas safe from anything behind the sheild of heavy metal, that nothing can penetrate. Get rid of the wall and re-deworm. You can do alot with your diet to completely stop many symptoms of ADD. Once again ridding wheat, dairy and sugar. Raw honey, rice bread, and rice milk. Stay away from almonds, tomatoes, oranges, apples and all citrus if you do have ADD you will react badly to natural sacrilytes, and vitamin B. If you are ADD you will have a severe calcium defiency, which accounts for bad sleeping. You will need a good assimilatable calcium and you will have trouble assimilating calcium if you are ADD. Pycnogenol is real good herb for this aliment, and so is MSM couldn't beat that one. I think Doc sells it here. We NEED MSM. It will help you with many things. Do not skimp on a cheap brand, or spend a ton thinking it's a good brand. If you do not get the right stuff it will not work and you will lose it's effect on the body irregardless how much you spent on a bottle of it. You will benefit HIGHLY on your concentration with a real good borage oil. Go to Mountain Rose herbs and get your borage oil there, it's high quality, not necessarily high cost. You will probably have to avoid corn, maybe soy There's a ton more, but this will get you started and feeling better in no time. FYI, gifted people often exibit the same symptoms of ADHD, the gifted are often misdiagnosed. If you are gifted, which you very well may be, you will not be able to fix the quick boredom, immediate gratification syndrom, bucking authority, not needing much sleep, things like that....sorry. Sad thing is, most gifted see themselves as dumb or below average. Quite the opposite. It's just damage public schools do to our gifted. It's a shame, if they escaped damage from the vaccines, chances are they didn't make it through the public school systems unscathed. The good news is, much of this can be fixed. Will give more info when you have gotten through this and yell if you need more help getting started with something specific. You can't get to point B without first doing A so I will stop here. bt
Guest guest
Joe, What's your diet like? I don't think herbs are your answer. I think we need to take a good, close look at how you eat and change that, and I bet your symptoms will go away and you'll be able to focus and get off those drugs! Guest guest
Becky: Thanks for your response so let me try to answer your questions. I try to stay mostly on a low carbohydrate diet. I am hypoglycemic and if I eat much in the way of sugars or carbs I begin to feel very weak, will likely break out in a sweat (especially my head), and get extremely sleepy. I try to eat meats, cheese, protein shakes which I usually put an egg in along with a couple of ounces of whipping cream, low carb bars with chocolate (I'm a chocholic) and green vegetables. Occassionally I have some things that are higher in carbohydrates such as cake, cookies, bread and etc. but rarely. I pay for it when i do. I drink diet sodas which I would say on average are about 2 a day. Morning coffee and usually about 2-3 glasses of tea a day. I work for the State of Alabama. I sit behind a desk most of the time in a very mundane and boring job. However, I plan to retire from it in 1 1/2 years with 25 years. I generally go to the gym 4 or 5 times a week and usually do some cardio type workout for about 30 - 40 minutes. Guest guest
Hi Joe, Just noticed your comment on drinking diet sodas. You need to avoid anything which says "diet" or "light". The sugar substitutes being used usually contain aspartame, which has many counter indications especially if used in such quantities as you describe. I stay well away from anything which has aspartame in it. love, Lisa - Joe herbal remedies Monday, May 19, 2003 2:16 AM [herbal remedies] Re: Herbal formulas for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) ..
