Guest guest
Karly, I think you're going to the same answer from a lot of people: take him off the commercial stuff. It's really poor quality food, the equivalent to feeding your kid McD's on a daily basis. There are some really good, not so expensive, human-grade petfoods on the market. That means that they are made from good cuts of meat and quality vegetables, and you could eat it if you so desired! COmmercial pet foods are really made with garbage meat and lots of fillers, so your dog isn't being properly nourished and it's no suprise that he's developing skin problems. Skin problems are not really as superficial as they look. They reflect a larger problem with an internal organ, which in this case is probably his liver. My homeopathic vet confirmed that they actually put other cats and dogs in the commercial stuff! Can you believe it? They buy animals from the SPCA, the ones that were euthanized, so your dog is not only eating other dogs but also the chemicals from what was used to kill them and flea collars, which are not removed before "processing". No joke! Read this: http://www.nvo.com/frr/ We switched our cats from Science Diet, which the conventional vets always told us was best, to a human grade cat food and our black cat, who used to puke on an almost daily basis because he's so neurotic about cleaning and got so many hairballs now only does it maybe once a month. Incredible! And plus their litter box doesn't smell so horrid anymore. Here's a list of an online store that carries a number of brands of the better food. Our cats get the Wellness brand, I believe: http://www.happytailspetmart.com/pet-food.htm HTH, ILANA xoxo karly wrote: Hi Ilana, He gets dry Pedigree with home food mixed in,you know...what we had for dinner...not a lot, just enough for him to think he's eating what we are. He has also been "dieting"...leaving alot left in his bowl. Karly --- Ilana Grostern <ilana wrote: > Karly, > My cat has the same problem.
