Guest guest
I landed in the ER, last night, after taking Chlorpheniramine (active ingredient in Chlortrimeton) at my Doctor's direction. My tongue swelled, inhibiting breathing, I got jittery and mentally acted like I was on uppers. My tongue (and face) is actually more swollen now than when I left ER at 2:30 AM. I'm also taking Nasalcort nasal spray to reduce rhinitus (but not another dose until this reaction goes). I want to go herbal, but am submitting to my Doc for now while we test to see if my Meniere's disease symptoms are allergy caused. Because of last night's incident (which he was totally shocked by--never heard of anyone being allergic to antihistamines) he has agreed to let me try an herbal antihistamine. I am still going to take the Nasalcort (so long as it doesn't also cause the reaction). I want to know what herbs act as antihistamines and are safe to take while nursing and also using Nasalcort. I'm specifically aiming to reduce ear and nasal pressure so perhaps dizziness and tinnitus will subside and I can regain full hearing with hearing discrimination. So, what herbs might work safely? If you reply, please let me know what kind of herbal experience you have. Thanks. Brandy shemaiah
Guest guest
Hi Brandy, Just curious, but why are you worried about herbal interaction with breast feeding when you are using nasal corticosteroids which have been shown to be passed through the mother's milk? I would think you would be less worried about the low-octane herbs than the rocket fuel put out by the pharmaceutical companies. You would honestly do much better cleansing your body and seriously looking to diet and such as opposed to searching something that will only address the symptoms anyway. Why not find the cause and solve the problem!!! Your body is no longer in harmony. Somewhere something went south. Whether it is in the elimination system (really good bet), congested liver (another really good bet), or just a plain toxic body from too many years of wrong choices (again another good bet) your body is no longer in harmony. Yes, you can correct it if you so choose. No, you don't need a licensed, credentialled anything or anyone to do it either. Unless of course, you feel you do, then you do. My suggestion to you is a total body cleanse with bowel cleansing and liver cleansing and of course kidney cleansing. A congested liver can create all sorts of maladies in all sorts of places in the body and manifest all sorts of symptoms. Congested bowels produce pretty much the same. Also, what kind of herbal experience are you looking for?? I am still just curious and mean no offense here but I was under the impression that there is only one kind of herbal experience and that is the use of herbs to feed and assist in healing our bodies by gently bringing them back to a state of harmony or homeostasis. Guest guest
Cheer up! Your body will heal, with some help! I definitely would stop the nasal steroids, as I'm sure you already heard. Anyway, here are herbs and vitamins that I use on myself for my allergies. 1500 mg of vit c taken 500 mg at a time, three times a day, between meals. Green tea... one or two cups a day. Contains quercetins which are antihistimines. Garlic or onion- I cook with a ton of garlic. Both also have the quercetins. In addition, garlic and onion taken as a steam relieve sinus pressure. Nettle tea- antihistimine, rich in minerals. one cup rosehips tea- rich in vit c- one cup (I usually mix one teaspoon rosehips with one teaspoon nettle and drink it all at once). Grapeseed extract- one 50 mg capsule a day My allergies and sinus problems are undercontrol. This means a lot- I live in a rainy climate and suffer from a mold allergy! I also have pollen allergies. One year, my immune system was so off kilter, I also got mono during allergy season. I was on prescription antihistimines which made the situation worse. These herbs support the whole body by inspiring it to heal. My allergies were also undercontrol when I lived in the midwest, which I understand to be the allergy capital I am so happy you want to take control of the situation! Love, Kathy "B.
