Guest guest
Hello all, My sister had surgery in March to repair a previous surgery on her back. The 1st surgery went in thru her stomach and left a huge thick white scar all the up, also left a large egg-shaped lump of scar tissue internally on the right side of the incision scar. She went back in in March for rods and pins to be placed to reinforce the basket around her spine. This time they went in thru the back. She went for a checkup and the doctor could not find the rods and pins and sent her for a STAT CT scan. The rods and pins were found surrounded by 2 inch thick scar tissue internally. This is nasty. The doc gave her some Vitamin E oil to rub on the external scar and is telling her in 2 months if some of this has not subsided he will have to open her up AGAIN, thru the stomach, and cauterize the scar tissue to remove it from the rods. THis does not sound at all pleasant, and I can only imagine how much more scar tissue will develop from yet another surgery. She has always scarred whenever she would get a deep cut, and it would be the thick white scarring, not just a purplish color or thin line. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the current scar tissue, internal or external, and what she should use to correct the skin imbalance. She is on many medications for pain, hypertension and mood imbalance. Her diet is okay, not organic I'm sure, but heavy veggie. Thanks for any help. She is coming to visit in a month and I would really like to be able to help her out. If I need to tincture something it would give me time. Thanks!!!! Guest guest
Carlin, Just off the top of my head, zinc or the lack there of, is one reason some people would scar worse than others. You do not, or should not, take zinc every day though and definately NOT on an empty stomache. That would be for the external effects of scarring, and I have little knowledge on the internal effects it may or may not have. My daughters holistic physician recommended testing in between doses so we do that. We incorporate zinc once or twice a week. I have tried and tested this without the use of oils to aid in the healing and have had wonderful results. There are also many oils out there that would help clear up external scarring too, although a possible zinc defiency should be addressed, Pumpkin oil, macadamia, shea butter, cocoa butter, kokum butter, jojaba oil, neam oil, even olive oil, being only a few of many, many scar healing oils. It would be difficult to remove built up scar tissue internally, due to the lack of blood flow to the scar tissue itself, maybe external packs? or herbs mixed with awsome carrier oils (DMSO IS THE BEST CARRIER) to penetrate deep into the tissues? Herbs, vitamins, minerals or oils, used internally would have to be carried to the scar tissue via the blood, she would have better luck with carrier oils applied externally. Hope that helps alittle. bt > She has always scarred whenever she would get a deep cut, and it > would be the thick white scarring, not just a purplish color or thin > line. > > Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the current scar > tissue, internal or external, > Thanks!!!! > Carlin
Guest guest
I forgot to mention borage oil. The happy oil. It's supposed to be an uplifting oil to use, I know it's for the brain and does do wonders for the ADD and ADHD and autistic for absolute certainty. Not sure what it did for his mood, but it helped several kids I know including one I cared for, concentrate, icing on the cake so to speak to the diet change to control the ADD. Helps the very first day too. It is also good for scarring. bt better luck > with carrier oils applied externally. > Hope that helps alittle. > bt > > > > > > > She has always scarred whenever she would get a deep cut, and it > > would be the thick white scarring, not just a purplish color or > thin > > line. > > > > Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the current scar > > tissue, internal or external, > > Thanks!!!! > > Carlin
Guest guest
Carlin, Very welcome, no trouble. Mountain Rose herbs sells really nice borage oil. I always try to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. To get my essential oils, I use them externally to keep my skin lookin it's best. I get alot of my oils from them. It's one of the few companies that sells it bulk and not in capsules. bt > Thanks for the reply. Suzi recommended Shea butter also and my sis > does have some of that at home so she is gonna try it. I'll have to > tell her about the zinc. > > I have looked for borage oil before and have not been able to find > any. Can;t seem to grow it very well either, too hot here I guess. > Any good sources for it? > > Thanks again! > Carlin >
