Hi Kim,

BF & C ointment, Comfrey ointment come to mind at the moment. Truly sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation though. I truly hope that you and your car get better soon.

[herbal remedies] My knee

Hey gang....Sunday evening I was in a car wreck. Overall, I'm ok...but my poor knee. Actually, both knees, but the right is much worse. Now, I work in a hospital, and don't want to come off like a big baby or anything, but this thing is like no other sore I've ever seen. Kinda reminds me of road rash.Everything I put on it makes it swell up and blister like crazy, and then it gets extremely painful. Drying it out helps, but then when I need to bend it, it cracks and bleeds.Any ideas on what to use to soothe this thing? It's extremely angry, lol.LOL...any herbal remedies for my car?! Perhaps a 'pull the front bumper outta the engine' salve? rofl.KimFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. You poor thing...

I have lots of experience fixing swellings and things with herbs. This past weekI slammed my ankle so hard I cried. It never even bruised!!! I was so excited.

Some herbs that work really well to bring down swelling and soothe any broken skin... I used them all at some point that day: goldenseal (for the bruise and swelling), witch hazel (for the bruise), calendula (for any broken skin), comfrey (for the broken skin and swellings), arnica (for any pain and spraining that may have occurred), and lavender (for the bruises, broken skin... etc)... When I first wacked myself I opened up two goldenseal capsules and mixed it with witch hazel and applied the paste to my ankle. I let it dry, then rinsed it off and repeated the process. After that, I made an ointment out of the rest of the ingredients. I simmered the herbs in about 3/4 cup of olive oil over a double burner for about an hour. I strained the herbs out and returned it back to the burner. I then stirred in two tbs of grated beeswax and let it melt. I then put a few drops of lavender essential oil and poured it into an ointment container...(actually I used a sterilized chicken boullion cube jar!) You can also use these herbs in the bath. Put one teaspoon each in two cups boiling water and steep for about fifteen minutes.
