Guest guest
Jo, From what I've read, the Total Tonic should be used immediately if you are using it as a mash (without the two week store and filtering process). So if you want to use it that way then make it in smaller quantities. The reason it " becomes " a tincture after 2 weeks is that is essentially brews in the raw apple cider vinegar. The nutrients and all the good stuff is slowly leached out of the food and into the vinegar. Than you strain out all of the solid material and you have a tincture which is taken by the dropperful and can last quite some time. I hope this helps. Guest guest
yes you can use the serranos.... you want hot peppers. after you combine all the ingredients and let it "ferment" it is a tincture.. just with ACV instead of alcohol... take several dropperfuls a day unless sick you can take it every 3-4 hours. Guest guest
Yep. You can use it immediately if you need to... but it is better if you let it "age" a few weeks, then strain, it will keep for a long long time. Suzi The New Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. Guest guest
I don't mind it at all. I prefer fresh thoughDon Quai <mysticalherbalist wrote: Most likely not. When the cabbage gets to the kraut stage it has pretty much totally fermented which means that the bacteria are no longer viable. This is why it is only done for 4 days and then strained. This gives you plenty of live bacteria. Honest, it does not taste bad nor does it negatively affect you. If you don't mind eating cabbage or sauerkraut then you definitely won't mind drinking the cabbage juice. Guest guest
Hi Lisa,,,, see answers below. SuziLisa <tigerlady wrote: Good Morning,We are about to take the plunge and try the total tonic as I have read it is good for bronchitis. Before we do, I am really hoping someone knowledgeable about this will answer some questions we have about it.1. In the recipe, it says to use "a handful." Approximately how much is that? 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup? it doesn't matter except that the quantities are equal all 1/3 cup or 1 handful.2. Is the habanero pepper the same as cayenne pepper. (In the cold & flu file, it lists cayenne in the total tonic, yet the recipe for total tonic lists the habanero pepper.) habenero is hotter than cayenne but you can use it. you want the hottest you can get.- Does the pepper have seeds, and if so, do we use them? use the whole pepper.3. On dosage:- How much a day do you take as maintenance? 1 tsp? a couple dropperfuls- How much a day when you are sick? 1 tbsp? several dropperfuls about 3-4 times a day.- Adults vs. Children? 150 rule4. Doc, do you sell the Organic Solutions Echinacea? Organic Solutions sells echinacea - 5. With all of that garlic, does it make a person stink? (for instance, as garlic bread does) :-) not in the total tonic6. What other ailments is Total Tonic good for, besides bronchitis? colds, flu, sinus, etc... it is an antibiotic (natures) you can clean and disinfect wounds, cuts,e tc.7. And last, but not least, what makes the total tonic work? What properties in this mixture make it work so well? the combo of all the ingredients... read up on each herb.Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these...I'm really not looking forward to the taste of this stuff as the recipe looks....oh so tasty! :-) But if it works, I'll get used to it!Sincerely,Lisa
Guest guest
Lisa, I've interspersed some answers among your questions. The ones I can answer anyway............................Lisa <tigerlady wrote: Good Morning,We are about to take the plunge and try the total tonic as I have read it is good for bronchitis. Before we do, I am really hoping someone knowledgeable about this will answer some questions we have about it.1. In the recipe, it says to use "a handful." Approximately how much is that? 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup? The reason for this is that it is by volume, not by weight. As long as you keep the proportions right, you should be okay.2. Is the habanero pepper the same as cayenne pepper. (In the cold & flu file, it lists cayenne in the total tonic, yet the recipe for total tonic lists the habanero pepper.)- Does the pepper have seeds, and if so, do we use them? Habs are differeny than cayenne. Habs are much hotter. I always use the seeds and the core as well.3. On dosage:- How much a day do you take as maintenance? 1 tsp?- How much a day when you are sick? 1 tbsp?- Adults vs. Children? We take 1-2 teaspoons a day for maintenance. When we are feeling like we may have bronchitis or a cold or somesuch, we take as much as 3 tsp three times a day.4. Doc, do you sell the Organic Solutions Echinacea?5. With all of that garlic, does it make a person stink? (for instance, as garlic bread does) :-) We've never noticed any change in body odor.6. What other ailments is Total Tonic good for, besides bronchitis? As far as direct treatment, I would say that it is good for anything cold/flu/brinchitis related. But also keep in mind that it is a powerful natural anti-biotic, so will bolster the system to resist all types of illnesses.7. And last, but not least, what makes the total tonic work? What properties in this mixture make it work so well? It is the synergy of all the ingredients together that make it work so well. All of the ingredients are high in nutrition and vitamins. And are natural anti-biotics.Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these...I'm really not looking forward to the taste of this stuff as the recipe looks....oh so tasty! :-) But if it works, I'll get used to it! Oh, but it tastes sooooo good!!! I use it as salad dressing. If you have problems with the taste, add your dose to organic tomato juice or somesuch.Sincerely,Lisa Hope this helps, Lisa. We've been taking it regularly for some time now. Even our 5 year old son takes it, but he takes it in water. Guest guest
Hi Ken, Take as much as you wish. My wife takes about 5 dropper fulls per day. I use a shot glass. Nothing in it will hurt you. Find your own level if you wish. Doc recommends two dropperfulls, I believe, but nothing is carved in stone here. We take it straight. Others mix it in juice, due to the heat I suppose. Don't know how your going to get the kids to take it. I don't have any at the moment so I can't answer this one. Maybe if you mixed in some raw honey or maple syrup. Kind of sweeten it up. It will keep a long time in the fridge. No it does not need to be in the fridge whilst brewing. Best to put it in a cupboard or closet. Then after you strain refridgerate it along with the mash. After about two weeks of brewing it is about as strong as it is going to get. But hey, try it for a month and see. Test it in two weeks and set some aside for a further test in a month. Then in a month strain some more out and test them both side by side and let me know your outcome.
