I cant swear by it but have read in several places eating too much garlic and

then breastfeeding can cause distress in an infant's stomach, resembling

colic or similiar to it.

 

 

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in private practice for the last eleven years. There is no research to prove that garlic in breastfeeding mothers is distressful for infants. In fact, one study suggests that infants breastfeed longer and more efficiently after mother has ingested garlic and onions.
