Guest guest
first off, the medication for depression is only masking symptoms, not actually solving the problem. second, to mask the symptom caused by the first band-aid I would try aloe vera juice. third, without actually solving the root problem, there will likely be a fourth & fifth problem to solve soon. I know that anti-depressants are notorious for weight gain. -Shelby corysgrammy [TheNightOwl] Saturday, May 03, 2003 4:34 AM herbal remedies [herbal remedies] " Plumbing Problems " Hi! I'm new to this group. For years I have had trouble with fluid retention and constipation. Had weight loss surgery 15 months ago and have lost about 125 pounds. My question is that I have changed some medications around in the last few weeks. Have gained 5-10 pounds back. Everything seems to be slowing down. I'm hardly ever in the bathroom! I know it is strictly from the meds. Does anyone have anyone suggestions of something that can counteract this problem? I think the culprit med is effexor which is for depression. HELP! Guest guest
holly, the old favorites are still the best bet for "light" upkeep. Prune juice, add more fruits, more daily fibre, Licorice root etc. however... for a more decisive result, a tea (or caps) of Senna or Cascara Sagrada will almost definitely get the job done, as well as increase peristalisis, for the added benifit of a healthier bowel but be warned! Always start with the lowest dose. if it doesnt get it on the first day, increase it tomorrow, and so on till you get it right As with OTC laxatives, the biggest problem is Gripping ( tummy cramping owie- gotta go, get out of my way!) to lessen the problem, add Ginger to your formula. Its soothing, but don't over steep it or you may burn your mouth. hope this helps! theresa Photos – Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books. You design it and we’ll bind it!
