[herbal remedies] RE: Pau d'arco- Urgent Breastfeeding

As a Chinese style herbalist I caution against any herbs (or medicine) while

breast feeding.

I believe the question to ask is WHY do you want to take a herb (or

medicine). If it is necessary to address a disorder the next question would

be to consider is there a food (diet) or life style change that can

accomplish the objective. Additionally what other non-invasive interventions

could be used. Qi Gong, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Acupressure.

My caution comes from the Physicians First law " Physician Do No Harm " .

Babies (up to the age of ~2) do not have their own immune system developed.

Even simple things like honey IMHO should not be given to babies. We do know

that certain ingredients do cross into the milk (like vinegar). We do not

know what if any pesticides or heavy metals may be in any food or herb. We

do not know of any possible long term action--those " theories " are

prohibited research.

In classical Chinese theory of health ( Yellow Emperors Classic) diet and

lifestyle are first and paramount to health and longevity. Herbal

intervention is for the failures.

Just my 2 cents,

Hey, if its a penny for your thoughts and I give my 2 cents where's the

other penny go?
