Hi Shannon,

I'm new to the list (just joined today) so I'm a little surprised I've found something I can put my 2 cents in on so soon! I know this is a herbal remedy list and I haven't had a chance to browse the messages section to see if homeopathics are discussed but I'm just going to plow ahead anyway.

I, for some reason, have kids who don't sleep. So I'm very familiar with the insomnia "thing". I have used homeopathic remedies regularly since introduced to them when my first was born 6 1/2 years ago. If you can find one that matches your symptoms, it should work wonders. Chamomilla was a dream for my first daughter. Coffee Cruda puts my 2 year old out every time. I personally use Nux Vomica for those times I can't sleep. Since the symptoms change from day to day and person to person, these aren't always the appropriate ones each time and then we have to hunt for another that matches more closely.

If you can't find a specific homeopathic remedy that matches your particular symptoms, there are several combination remedies that give good results.

Hope that helps!

Kelly

[herbal remedies] Insomnia?

Hi All,Does anyone have any suggestions for this sleep deprived girl? I have been taking Melatonin and Valerian Root capsules which help me get to sleep sometimes. Other nights, they don't have much effect. What to do? Please send any remedies that have helped you get to sleep.-ShannonFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. I haven't been sleeping consistently well for the past two years or

so. Sometimes I think that I have kicked it and then the insomnia

comes back. I don't feel depressed or unhappy. At this point part of

my problem is anxiety about not sleeping, which causes me not to

sleep. Before I got to bed, I am worried about not sleeping. Lying

in bed not sleeping, all I can think about is how tired & miserable

I'll be the next day. Circular. I get regular exercise (swimming

and walking) which sometimes helps and other days makes me too

energetic.

I just turned 28 and I have no specific health problems.

Other than that I have a loving husband, flexible job and lots of

friends. What gives?

Kelly,

Homeopathics are discussed here from time to time... it is okay... what we try to do is to find the "cause" of the problem to "cure" the problem.. or at least that is the hope of this list to help everyone get to the root of what is causing the problem so that it can be fixed...and not keep putting a bandaid on the problem.. like what the "medicos" do alot of the time... i.e., oh, you have a headache - take a pain pill.... instead of take the pain pill BUT let's see what exactly is causing your problem ...

Keep "putting in your 2 cents" - we all love input..and learn from each other.. and welcome to our group. When you get time browse the files...there is a wealth of info there...and in the message archives as well..

Hi Shannon,

I use Chamomile tea with honey, hot milk with honey, or a calcium/magnesium drink for getting a good night's sleep. I alternate between those, depending on my taste buds at the time LOL.

Sometimes we also need a break from the remedies that help us sleep.

Try taking a few days off from the valerian and melatonin.

In the meantime, try some chamomile or lavender. When I have trouble

sleeping I diffuse essential oils of Cedar and Bergamot. They do

wonders...knocks me out cold.

Sleep aids...whether natural or not, should only be used to snap you

out of a bout of sleeplessness...not to be used as a permanent cure.

You'll find yourself both depending on them as well as needing more

and more to get the same effect.
