Handling Breast Problems?

Doc,

After reading your article, Handling Breast Problems, I have some questions:

I am very interested in some of these ideas...I haven't worn a bra in years and

I know rebounding and excercise is most important.

The questions I have are concerning the hot and cold hydrotherapy and the

chinese breast massage.

I am intrigued and would like to learn more, but also a bit confused.

Can someone help me to set the record straight...is it good or bad to

rub/massage/stimulate/disturb cancerous breast lumps (whatever you want to call

it)????

I have heard such conflicting information about this.

It seems that after I allowed a massage therapist to do some lymph massage on

and near my original lump and then had chinese cupping therapy over my breast

and original lump that was when I started to notice more lumps forming around

the one original lump I had.

But it does make sense to either stimulate the immune system and bring the

body's awarness to the problem area either by the mentioned hot/cold shower

therapy or to help stimulate the proper lymph flow to carry this problem out

with the massage.

Has anyone tried the hot and cold wa=

ter therapy?

It sounds almost unbearably cold and shocking to the system...but I would be

willing to try it if needed. Any ideas out there?

Thank You!

Eve

arrgh. i cannot imagine not wearing a bra. why would someone make that choice? and i think i missed the article you speak of... debra

Some types of bra, like the ones with underwire, can mess up the circulation of the lymph nodes and can contribute (theoretically) to tumors and breast cancer growths, as well as cysts. I do not believe in NOT wearing a bra either as I believe its good for your breasts to keep upheld (for looks anywaY) to a point and dont want my nipples showing through shirts ;)

As far as standard massage goes (ie chinese/japanese) there is no

evidence to support that it " spreads " cancer. This has been a

concern in my field (Shiatsu) for a long time and a lot of research

has been done in the field of massage therapy and cancer. This being

said, we always tell people that it is their call and try and

encourge them to read as much as possible themselves.

That being said, we do avoid direct pressure/ stimualtion (except

perhaps general circular) stimulation of " cancerous lumps " . We also

prefer to have the aproval of the doctor as well just to be on the

safe side.

Stimulating the immune system does not mean working one specific

area but rather the wholebody.

As far as cupping goes, I have never heard of that on that type of

problem. Intresting. Thats something I would (and will) check into.

Take care,

Eric
