[herbal remedies] Psychosomatic

Hi all. I have a really urgency with a psychosomatic problem. I'm suffering now of a really symdrome that include full body hair loss (especially head an pubic hair), bruxism, intestinal discomfort with very soft stool and very frequently run to the bathroom ungercies and some skin disorders. How do I know is psyco related? Because I had the same about 10 years ago. In that ocassion I made a viacrucis from derma, endocrine and gastro doctors, finally a psyquiatrist put me in antidepressive and ansyolitic and all the symthoms went off, but after 15 days symthomps came back and the doctor increased the doses, I was living like a zombie and decide to abandon that treatment. After about a year all symptoms went off. but I don't remember how this happened, maybe some habit changes. Now all that situation is present again, but I'm looking for a better approach to free me forever of that problem. I already tried a chinese herbal formula for stress, after the ingestion of 200 pills (8, three times a day) nothing is better/ In the emotional plane I'm not depressed. I am a very happy guy with a very good sense of humor. Only a little fear about the hidden deterioration that this situation coul be producing in my internal systems. Some suggestions please. Victor

Victor, stop labeling what is wrong with a psychiatrists label :-) Give the files a once over and request a taped lecture from Doc Shillington. You will be surprised at how many answers you will find there. What you can do in the mean time is switch to all certified organic foods. This will start you on the road to the nutrition that your body so badly needs. Stress does play a huge role in any illness. I would suggest reading up on meditation, it helps a lot. Usually with alopecia universa (total body hair loss) it is your own immune system attacking the hair. You have come to the right place, welcome to the list.

Janet, the term "psychosomatic" is not in fact a psychiatric label. It simply means: caused by the mind. It refers to a physical illness which does not have a physical cause but is instead caused by stress, or any other mental/spiritual condition. See these definitions from the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

Main Entry: psy·cho·so·mat·ic Pronunciation: -s & -'ma-tikFunction: adjectiveEtymology: International Scientific Vocabulary18631 : of, relating to, concerned with, or involving both mind and body <the psychosomatic nature of man -- Herbert Ratner>2 : of, relating to, involving, or concerned with bodily symptoms caused by mental or emotional disturbance <psychosomatic illness> <psychosomatic medicine>- psy·cho·so·mat·i·cal·ly /-ti-k( & -)lE/ adverb

But Lisa,

If a person has an illness that is caused by their mind ( in part or whole ), they will need to use their mind in order to fix it, and that may involve a certain complexity; at least this has been my own experience. I do not believe I could have accomplished certain things without that complexity.

It is not any more difficult than the complexity of the body and nutrition -- -- just a different type of complexity.

But just because I find a book helpful, does not mean somebody else will feel the same way about it.

:-)

Peace,

Cathie

I'm glad you find this book helpful.

Sounds a bit too much complexity for my taste: all I need to know is that the mind caused the illness LOL

Undoubtedly the best book on the human mind is: Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health. By L. Ron Hubbard. I have over 35 years of experience in applying its techniques, and can state with absolute certainty that no other mental science comes even remotely close to it in effectiveness.

You can read this book with a spouse or friend, and use the techniques in it to relieve a tremendous amount of mental stress. It is very Naturopathic in that it allows you to go to the "Cause" of problems.

Love,

A book I have found very useful in dealing with this type of subject is Deepak Chopra's book "Quantum Healing" -- in which he goes down to the molecular level and considers the point at which thought becomes a molecule... Wolf's discussion of the Dirac Sea ( the bubbling sea of virtual electrons that are energy gain and loss from actual electrons ( lose energy and become virtual, gain energy and fall back into the Dirac ( virtual ) Sea, as discussed in his book "The Spiritual Universe" a quantum physical persepctive on the Universe...Peace, Love and Poetic License,CathieIn a message dated 3/21/03 12:57:12 AM Mountain Standard Time, lisabelcher writes:
