There is some interesting information at this site about anxiety disorders.

It has to do with anxiety being a detox crisis in the neurons? I'm not good at explaining scientific things, and haven't looked at the site in a while, but knew a woman at one time who swore by this method, and the woman, a scientist, who's site it is says she healed herself of schizophrenia using this method...

Eric, I am sure Doc will have a more definitive answer for these questions, but here is my take on some ;-) No matter what it is labeled, somataform, hypochondriac, obsessive compulsive, etc.; it is an imbalance somewhere in the body. For an example, my 8 year old Joey has autism. He presented with extreme anxieties, repetitive behaviors, complete cessation of language, and loss of gross motor skills (stopped walking etc.) The psychs took lots of notes at his evaluations and sent us home telling me and I quote "he will never be a rocket scientist." He is in the 2nd grade, excellerated reading program, all academics at or above age expectancy. The modern medical community has done nothing to bring this about. Nutrition and natural treatments did.

So don't get caught up in all those labels they put on people, because all these illnesses boil down to the same thing - there is something stopped/imbalanced in the person's body that needs to be corrected. These labels are really only names of the symptoms of the real problem, not the problem itself.

Since everybody is different, they require different treatments. Often the problem is the shrink hehe! What I am getting at is - how can we say what herbs would benefit, if we have no real case history? Some relaxing herbs are lobelia, chamomile, lemon balm, valerian, wild yam, black cohosh, and the list goes on.

[herbal remedies] Somatoform Disorders/ Anxiety... How to treat?

Hi everyone and Doc,I was wondering what your take is on Somatoform disorders and also on Anxiety disorders?Somatoform is more of curosity for me because i have a friend who had borderline hypochondrasis (for pp who dont know that word, it pretty much means that when they hear something or feel something... like stomach noises.... they get obssesed with the idea that they have some serious disease, even though it is nothing.)Anxiety "disorders" are more of a serious concern for me. I treat a few people with IBS, or other more serious conditions and anxiety is always a big concern. It just further aggravates their condition. (I use IBS because I am still recovering myself and I am most fimilar with it).What about condition of anxiety that dont appear to have a physical condition linked with them? How would you treat that? I have had this one client who goes to a shrink, has a loving family, gets regular shiatsu, has a good job, etc, but has re-occuring anxiety attacks.Other than trying to find the root of the problem by bringing it to a place of self-awarness or other stuff along that sort of line, what would you recommend? How about herbs? What would be some formulas and why?Thanks for your help guys and gals,I appriciate it,EricFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Vaccines anywhere are a huge factor for these children. Joey has tactile sensitivities (doesn't like to be touched a lot). I started gentle massages on him when he was a baby and this has helped enormously to this day. He will willingly hold his feet out to be rubbed now :-) Exposing him little by little to his fears helps him overcome them. For example, he was terrified of the school bus stopping at railroad tracks to see if a train was coming. So he got into the habit of singing a simple song just to himself when that happened and he is no longer scared of railroad stops. Of course, I had a huge fight with the school district's transportation dept. because they do not allow children to talk at all on the buses. For his particular intestinal problems, he does not drink milk. He was just shy of 5 when I potty trained him. Tincture of feverfew and a good diet for a few months stopped the chronic diarrhea. His self esteem issues are addressed by letting him do what he loves - building legos LOL! He is a genious with these little blocks and builds amazing things. Hi compulsive obsessions just require a little thought. For instance, he will get food out of the kitchen and eat till he throws up, so he has a lock on his bedroom door at night. This actually makes him happy, almost as if the food will make him eat it hehe! Through this I found he needs a great deal of time to himself, so that when he is interacting with the rest of our family he is now calm and clear headed. His motor skills are still a few years behind his age level. He and I play simple games and I have him do little chores for me that he likes to build on his skills in this area. It does take a lot of thought and you have to keep on your toes because they are always changing and growing, but the hugs and kisses are worth it :-)

~~~ Janet, your response interests me. I work with awoman whose daughter is autistic, and another who toldme there was this one community in California that hada much higher than average rate of autism. Theythought it had something to do with a batch ofvaccinations. What you used, is it in the articleshere? ~~~--- Dragonhealer <dragonhealing wrote:> Eric, I am sure Doc will have a more definitive> answer for these questions, but here is my take on> some ;-) No matter what it is labeled, somataform,> hypochondriac, obsessive compulsive, etc.; it is an> imbalance somewhere in the body.
