Guest guest
I am trying to make the female formula w/apple cider vinegar instead of alcohol, and with black & blue cohosh. How much cohosh do I use? On the package of chaste tree berry, it says, "external use only. do not use if pregnant." I am hoping to become pregnant. What purpose does this herb serve? I need this mostly for the "sedative" action and was thinking I would stay on the female formula while I was preg. Are any of these other herbs not recommended during pregnancy? Thanks for help/suggestions! Guest guest
I realize that there are different female formulae to use, so I posted the formula that I found in the files, in the original email. I understand the 1 part/2 parts stuff, but it is not listed how much cohosh to use or how to use vinegar instead of alcohol. I read the "how to" files and saw the instructions for the alcohol. Is it the same process for the vinegar? Doc prescribed it for me to help w/resetting my cycle and trying to become preg., and to help w/my stress level since coming off the anti-depres. I checked the website you recommended and don't know if I was just tired, but I didn't see why the chaste berry shouldn't be used during preg. Is it OK to just leave out? Thanks! Guest guest
Alison, Here is what I found in researching this for you. Vitex can stabilize the cycle after withdrawal from progesterone birth control pills. For women who are trying to get pregnant, vitex may be helpful to help regulate the ovulatory cycle. It can safely be taken throughout the end of the third month of pregnancy, which may help prevent miscarriage, according to German research. After the third month it is still safe to take but is not recommended, because it may bring on the flow of milk too early. In one carefully controlled study with 100 nursing mothers, it was found that women who took vitex had an increased milk flow compared to women who took a placebo.1 Later research showed that the best way to stimulate milk production is to take Vitex the first ten days after birth. So I would leave it in the formula. Are you wanting to add cohosh to this formula? Guest guest
Alison If you are trying to get pregnant, I don't think I would add the cohosh... if memory serves me, it is more for menstrul cramps, menopause, etc... and should be avoided if pregnant/.
