Guest guest
Hello Whiteflower, Nice name ! I am also new to this list and so far it's Great ! I am a novice with the herbs, and would suggest that in my opinion echinacea is a good one to begin with. Echinacia is nice to have around. I cleared up a pink eye with it in my duaghter, twice! In no time at all ! Let's see -- raspberry leaf is nice for female things -- relaxes the uterine wall and I believe it reduces the severity of cramping? I was drinking some tea with camomile (which is a nother great mild herb for relaxtion and I believe, also for skin) with raspberry leaf in it also ( a mixtuer I made from bulk teas ). That month my cramps were almost non-existent and now I"m kinda wondering was it the raspberry leaf? I drank lots of raspberry leaf tea during pregnancy ( perhaps a bit Too much ;-) and my contractions in delivery were so relaxed they were not quite strong enough and the nurse said they'd never Seen a baby carry so low in the birth canal ? I would suggest a little field trip to you, to go to your nearest natural foods market ( not just a vitamin store -- one of those that is like a mini supermarket with vitamins and herbs and organic milk and stuff ) and go to teh bulk herb section and browse around just to see what is there. It's fun! There should be reference books at some place in the store, where you can look a few things up, or ask a store helper to assist you. Sounds like a good place to start ! But that's just me. If you have some specific ailment you're trying to clear up, go to the reference section in one of these stores and lookin an herb book under that symptom and see what herb it recommends. I suspect teas are the best way to begin. Others with more thorough and professional experience with herbs may have more thorough and better ideas for you. These are mine :-) Hugs, Cathie In a message dated 3/4/03 1:44:18 AM Mountain Standard Time, landonador writes: Hello to all, and yes, I am new. I have only begun to learn herbal medicine, and it is wonderful! I hope to learn from all of you. Any suggestions on where to begin? What is good in my medicine closet? Some things I shouldn't be without? Please forgive me being new to all of this, but hey! you gotta start somewhere, right? Thanks for listening, and hope to hear from you soon.
