Guest guest
Hi. This has always been an interest of mine and I am looking forward to learning plenty. The first post I read was about feeding raw rabbits to dogs. Uhh, we have a pet bunny, so that one didn't interest me (PS I hope your dogs get diarrhea; just joking). On to my questions. My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes, so I'm interested in learning anything of value there. He's on oral agents and was also using a diabetic support product I got through a catalog, but his blood sugar is still running around 200. My sister was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, so I'm interested in information about that. Auto-immune disorders seem to run in my family (Dad died of ALS, son had Guillian Barre syndrome after the chicken pox, niece has Crohns disease). I have a friend whose Mom and brother both had/have schizophrenia and it sure sounds lately from her emails that she is heading that way too, so I'd like info there. I have another friend who I think may be alcholic, but I don't think he thinks he is, and maybe he isn't but he's still drinking more than what is healthy. I also was interested in how one becomes a doctor of naturopathy. Thanks in advance for any information you may have. Also, if there are things already written in the archives, just let me know and narrow down the date a bit, and I'll do some digging. Guest guest
I'm not sure I know where to begin... ok first the alcoholic... until they admit they are and want help - there is not much you can do... ( this comes from personal experience - knowing those who were) First in all cases a total body cleanse would be in order. Second, what does the diet consist of.... are you eating mostly grains, veges, fruits, etc.... or fast foods, lots of meat, starches, caffeine, etc... we need some more info.... If you check out the files "Articles" and then check out the message archives,... do a search by "diabetes" - if the search comes up blank hit the "next" button... messages will come up... keep going till it says there are no more. Doc will be able to answer in more depth on these. He is out of town right now but should be back in the next day or two. But please give us some more info. Guest guest
~~~ Thank you. The diet is definitely some of it, as is the weight. Three of his four grandparents were diabetics and his father was, so it's very heavy in the genes. Not a lot of caffeine. Lately he's cut out the breads and carbs, but his diet before this was lots of white refined carbs (he owns a deli, subs and processed meats galore). But even cutting out the carbs, his sugar is running high. ~~ --- Suzanne Nottmeier <suziesgoats wrote: > > I'm not sure I know where to begin... > ok first the alcoholic... until they admit they are > and want help - there is not much you can do... Guest guest
Suggested reading, in my most Humble opinion, for anybody dealing with schizophrenia, are the following books: 1)Louis Sass, Madness and Modernism: Insanity in Light of Modern Art Literature and Thought ( he is a specialist in schizophrenia, and the book is Highly Cognitive in it's approach ). 2)Stephen Wolinsky, Trances People Live: Healing Approaches in Quantum Psychology 3)Stephen Larsen ( who was a student of the late Joseph Campbell and who is a jungian psychologist ), The Mythic Imagination ( on Mask therapy) I have heard tell of schizophrenia being significantly helped by omega-3 oils. I have heard tell of schizophrenia being significantly helped by niacin. My personal opinion, is that schizophrenia is largely a societally generated disease, and indeed Sass says it is a " disease of the hyper- rational " and that we are a hyper-rational society. Sass also says that brain studies have shown that a florid schizophrenic will remain stuck in left brain functioning where others would switch to right brain functioning for certain mental tasks for which right brain functioning is more appropriate. In my experience, it has been my habit to treat delusions as waking dreams. I know it is difficult to listen and the tendency is to want to " get that feeling " one gets when listening to somebody off the deep end which is like nails scratching on a chalkboard of my soul -- to get it far away -- to lock it away in a " safe " place. I,me personally, would never turn my loved one over to the care of psychiatrists, but, then, he is one semester short of a Ph.D. in psychology and was the Prize student in that department before he went off the deep end with his theories that public news media were trying to influence public opinion about the watergate hearings... In my personal experience, there is Often mysterious grains of truth embedded in paranoia's and delusions -- that are associated wtih hazy quantumphysical realities. Knowing this can help alleviate that feeling of needing to remove oneself immediately from the nails on the chalkboard feeling. And to this end I would say that also in my person opinion, any and all of Fred Alan Wolf's books on quantum physics realities would be useful... ( for the person trying to help the schizophrenic through understanding, and possibly also for the schizophrenic " him/herself, depending on what he/she is open to.
