Guest guest
Hi Everyone I went to the herbalist yesterday. All of these things are totally new to me but I am trying to learn. This list has been the most helpful resource I have found and although I don't understand all of it, I am learning everyday. Anyway after a 2 hour consultation/exam he told me the following: 1. I probably have parasites! Is this a common thing in adults? It is hard for me to think about, but I am being dewormed. Yuck. 2. I have a problem with my ovaries and have hormonal imbalances. 3. I need to eat much more protein. 4. I have an alkaline bowel. 5. I am deficient in some minerals. 6. I have a weak heart muscle. He made this assessment after asking me some questions about symptoms and then he tested me by having me hold my arm up and resisting him as he pushed down on my arm while touching various points on my body. I would very much like an opinion on this technique either onlist or private. My symptoms were chronic sinus headache, very low energy, low blood pressure, blackouts on standing sometimes, and occasional upset stomach. He seemed to focus on the upset stomach even though this is happening only maybe once a month and my other symptoms are nearly everyday. This parasite thing kinda threw me for a loop but I am going on something called Para_Pak as well as Artemesic Combo and Pau D'arco for 10 days on and 5 days off for three courses of treatment. I am also taking Capsicum with every meal. I bought the capsicum he recommended but I see it is nearly the same as what I have at home. I was taking it to increase circulation. Is there much difference in brands? I am now also taking a Psylium Hull combination twice a day and Mineral Matrix (goat whey). He also wants me to drink lemon water (8 glasses per day) mixing lemon juice half and half with water. That didn't work out very well so I am mixing it 7:1 water to juice and still choking it down. He explained what each of these things is for but because this is all new to me I guess I want some re-assurance that it sounds reasonable, including the way the diagnosis was done. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks Sienna ps...thanks Doc for the answer to my question about eating egg shells.
Guest guest
Hi Sienna! It sounds like you have some question about the methods or diagnosis from your herbalist. I think it is wise and prudent to carefully evaluate any health advice, testing, and treatment. I would make sure your herbalist is qualified and runs objective tests. There are objective tests for parasites. Great Smokies labs is one place that runs them but there are others. A putting together of symptoms runs risk for incorrect diagnois which can lead to incorrect treatments. Your symptoms are rather generalized and can fit many diagnosis. It is important to find the correct cause. To me, your symptoms fit allerigies/ sensativities/ food and environmental intolerance. These things all mean the same but some people really get hung up on correct terminology with these issues so I am using a more liberal approach. There are growing numbers of people with these conditions and your symptoms (even the near blackouts from changes in pressure inhe sinus cavity) neatly fit that diagnosis. If you want more info on what I am talking about check out post numbers 28542, and 28692 (I think that is the correct post numbers anyway). Feel free to email if you have questions.
