essential oils in seeds and sprouting

Hi Dianne,

 

It is my considered opinion that the essential oils contained in seeds are used up as food when sprouting the seed. These oils are very concentrated forms of nourishment for the developing sprout. These oils are what nourish the developing sprout until it can get its roots down into the soil and soaking up minerals and water. Now I cannot find official confirmation on this as yet, but I do believe this is how it works from what I recall of biology.
