Guest guest
Angel, You're going to get some great help here. I posted a question for a friend a couple of months back because her daughter was showing signs of ADD or whatever and they gave me TONS of info to pass on to her. In fact, until people start to answer you, do a search in the archives for Ritalin (I take it they're simular?) and also look in Doc's files because there's an article on ADD/ADHD. Don't despair! The wonderful people on this list have SO many answers and can help you find the ones that work for you and Taylor! I know, I know...I should have done this much earlier...but, until you get into a natural group, it's hard to find the nitty gritty on any medication IN PLAIN ENGLISH THAT THE AVERAGE JOE CAN UNDERSTAND. Anyhow, I have decided to take Taylor off this stuff. I found out that it's very addictive and so I can't take her off cold turkey, though. So, I am going to decrease it a little each week and see how it goes... Well, I forgot to give it to Taylor yesterday and she got into trouble for talking and not paying attention and blamed it on not having the Adderall. (At this point, I think she fully "believes" she needs it, but I ONLY give it to her for school and she is absolutely normal at home...she controls herself, she can concentrate when she's interested, doesn't loose her temper like she used to, etc, etc.) Well, the teacher emailed me...and I replied that I'd forgot, but I was trying to wean her off it, and I gave her an allopathic web page where she can read about it. I also told her that it is nothing but speed, the exact same thing drug dealers sell on the street. The only difference being that what they cut theirs with wasn't as hard to pronounce as what the pharmacuticals cut theirs with... This woman that I thought was pretty sensible wrote me back saying that she'd talk it over with the school nurse and get back to me... Of coarse, the nurse won't be in until next week, but I don't understand what she thinks she needs to talk over with the school nurse. My question to yall is, isn't my child still my child in the state of Indiana? Taylor's teacher made the statement, "I would really encourage you to continue Taylor on the Adderall..." Is this mess going to make me have to move? This may be OT, but I don't know anyone else that would know these things, not sure that even yall do... If you don't know the answer to that, could you at least point me in the right direction or tell me where some really good info is that I can show to these people? Doc, please....even if they have to private me...I get the feeling that I'm gonna need some back up on this one... Thanks so much for any help and I am so sorry if this is a no-no. Guest guest
Angel, this is very on topic. She is your child and they have NO right to tell you what to do with her. Usually teachers like this are simply too lazy to engage a smart child's attention enough and would rather they be drugged. Doc can help you with simple nutritional changes and such. You can ween her off the Adderall. It is a constant battle with the various school officials when we have special needs children, but a battle worth fighting and winnable every time. Don't hesitate to ask for help or support regarding your sweet girl, because it is very much a health issue. Guest guest
This doesn't help you with your school problem. But I wanted to tell the list what I do to help my son with his ADHD. I give him 2 tablespoons of Flax Seed Oil every morning. I also give him 3 Kali muriaticum in the mornings. The flax seed oil helps him a great deal. But the Kali muriaticum has really helped him. His teacher even thought we were trying a medication. She was shocked when I told her what it was. It has also helped my sons allergies. He isn't sniffling or sneezing like he was. ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~Holly & The Emerald Jewels:Nathaniel (5/96) & Jenavieve (5/02)
